Default VF Dig spool

When new my VF dig worked great, but as time has passes it has become less reliable. It will not always go back into 4 WD without first cycling the servo a couple of times. I have not opened the DIG yet but suspect the aluminum spool coming off the transmission has wore down. Is anyone making steel spool to replace the aluminum one?

Thanks for the help.

I asked the same question and what I was told is since ppl aren't really having any issues with them they have not made any out of steel yet. The butterflies do wear down especially the one attached to the rear outdrive (The Silver one not the black one). The rebuild kit is $30 which is not bad. I hope someone tries to make one out of steel

I toasted a spool yesterday...35t handwound and 11 volts !!

It lasted well over 30 packs of gettting the snot beat out of it...

Im going to look into making some 4130 spools for myself

I did notice that the spool "teeth" are bigger then the black pieces "teeth openings", and that there is a gap, not sure if it effects anything or not, but the spool is only engaging half way into the black piece...I can get a picture later when Im at home.

Dose anyone know of any place on line were I can order the rebuild kit on line. My closest LHS is nearly 50 miles away and they don't have one any way.

OMG no wonder it is $30.00 they want you to buy every thing but the case. Not sure why they don't just sell the spool that wears out. $30.00 for 5 parts only 1 of which you need. Repeat after me RC4WD here I come. VF

Crawler Out!!!!!!

We will gladly sell you just the part you need. Send me an email to the address in my sig. Except for extreme circumstances, all the internals are ready for replacement around the same time, which is the reason we sell the kit for 30 bucks instead of 8 bucks per piece for all 5 parts. I typically get 200 hours or so of use with my Goat BL setup before I even think about changing anything and by the time I do, the anodize is starting to wear, the teeth have a bit of ramping, and so forth. We wouldn't sell the kits (which we've done plenty of for our long time users) if it didn't make sense in general cases.
