Default Of water and axles....

Anyone have experiences with the Axial axles and water? How are you sealing them from the elements?

RTV all the seams and use the rubber sealed kit bearings is fine...don't run mine through deep water though. Make sure you put some 3mm screws in the four holes on the top of the axle housing in the outer ends where the rear stock toe links mount...these holes go all the way through into the inside of the housings.

Are you sealing around the outer edges of wher the bearing and case meet?

Put the sealant along the mating surfaces of the two plastic housing halves and then assemble the axle. Wipe off any excess after the screws are all tight.

I wouldn't do any of that. For increased or extended water play all I'd do is replace the bearings with bushings, bronze preferably, ie, Tamiya and use a good grease/lube, or even marine grade, on the gears. The bushings won't rust or ever need flushing, I haven't seen the Axial axles but I suspect the plastic to plastic joint is pretty tight, water in the axles isn't a concern like 1:1's.
