Axial Capra Build Motor / Esc

Hey guys, looking to purchase an axial capra kit and build it with my sons. I am looking for a fun yard enjoyable crawler. I live just south of chicago and i work construction so i can bring large rocks home and create a little yard course. Looking to go with the capra kit and also looking to not spend a fortune. Let me see your recommendations for electronics, and go!

Thanks in advance@!

Hobbywing 1080 esc and Holmes Hobby 16t Crawlmaster Sport 540 brushed motor. Plenty of speed and still has good slow crawl control.

The Capra is a lot of fun. The dig isn't reliable in my experience. It tends to get stuck into the locked rear wheels position and you can't unlock it without backing up. That's the biggest drawback of the Capra. I love everything else about it.

As stated above, the HobbyWing 1080 and Holmes 16T CrawlMaster Sport 540 are perfect choices. In terms of servos, I haven't kept up with the budget stuff as I've started spending big money on servos. The Savox 1230 offers a ton of power and decent speed for $70.

Tons of budget servo information is here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/elect...otness-54.html

My setup is:
ESC Hobbywing 1080
Motor Holmes Crawlmastersport 540 13T
Servo Holmes SHV500 V3 direct powered by 3S no BEC needed
TX/RX Flysky GT5

Another Serrvo i had an eye on was the new Savöx SW-1212SG (46kg Waterproof) but needs a BEC (stall current 10A) so i choose the Holmes.

Dig Servo right now a cheep turnigy servo, not sure if i keep this.
My Dig is working flawless using 3Pos 4WD, rear freewheel and rear locked.

Have fun building it with your Kids

Mamba X Micro
Holmes Puller Pro V2 2200KV
Servo Holmes SHV500 V3
Dig servo, Spektrum/SX10707 running at 7.5V

I run 3 position dig with the flysky GT5. It's been a fun rig and will do some amazing lines.

Holmes Hobby BR-XL and a Crawlmaster 20T. Slow and controlled with a top speed that's a fast walk on 3S. Savox 2290 with a BEC. Don't go cheap on a servo or you'll be buying another one soon. The SHV500 is great as well.

Caste SW4 / Holmes Revolver 1800kv with 11t pinion. Using a savox 2290, with a savox 1232MG dig servo.
Super smooth and torque for days.

You will need a bec with this setup, as the sw4 bec sucks.

Mamba X waterproof
Tekin ROC 412 brushless sensored waterproof
Spectrum dig servo.
I prefer the brushless set up because my rig weighs about 9-10 lbs has great low speed control and enough torque to throttle out of being stuck and binds. It will literally make the truck hop.
