Default Question on tire sizes

Right now I'm using Losi Comp Claw 2.2 tires (got them super cheap from my LHS) on Axial Rocksters beadlocks. I just picked up a set of RC4WD IROK Super Swampers for my WK/CK trail truck and they are a bit taller than the Comp Claws. Now, for a dedicated crawler, would a taller tire be better or worse for crawling? I may end up putting the Comp Claws on my WK/CK because they are shorter and look a little more 'scale'.

I just go iroks and love them! Major upgrade from stock ripsaws, And the rock lizards I had on my bead locks. The bigger tires help my crawling and the more ground clearance helps to get over low obstacles that hit your diff cover. Are they scale? Hell no! Will they help in the trails ? Hell yes!

I have a set of the IROC super swampers becasue I wanted the tallest 2.2 tire I could find. They are great for bashing around on trials. But once you get to crawling on rocks they cannot come close to a set rovers whites. Its a night and day difference. When I go to my local indoor track I bring the irocs or ripshaws to do the scaler course, but when I got to the rocks I switch over to the rovers.

OK, here's a few photos with the tires on the Ridgecrest and my Bronco CK/WK. Like I said, not too concerned about scale looks for either truck, but I'm guessing the skinner, taller RC4WD tires would be better for crawling (Ridgecrest) than the wider, shorter Comp Claws.

a taller tire will give you more ground clearence but also raise your COG.
with all the options out there some 2.2s are taller than others.

They look sweet on both. Try them out on a few packs, see how they work and then decide!

I ended up mounting the RC4WD tires on my Ridgecrest. The larger tires just looked a little too goofy on the Bronco. It'll be a while before I can test out the tires (snow usually sticks around here in MN for a bit).
