Default Making Crawling bomber into trail rig bomber.

I originally set my bomber up for crawling, but I find I don't care for scale comp crawling these days.

I swapped to twin hammers trailing arms to help with breakover, but I am not sure I should stick with the shorter wheelbase now that I won't be competing.

I plan to take this rig out hiking, but where I hike there is still ample rock formations to climb. We have a lot of continuous rock slabs from ancient lava flows here in minnesota. Not super jagged and fragmented so less hang ups.

What do I gain if I go back to stock wheelbase?

Extra wheelbase helps in really step climbs, but that's about it. You lose turning radius, maneuverability, and break over angle. I'd leave it with the short wheelbase IMHO.

If you were setting it up for speed runs or a rock bouncer, then ya longer trailing arms but you aren't.
