Can I get some pics of how you guys have mounted your monster X esc in your bombers?

I used an aluminum plate mounted to the top of my Wraith trans. The plate is held down with screws and the ESC is held down with 3M double sided foam tape. It's some industrial strength stuff I picked up at Home Depot and holds super strong.

Screamer, do you run an interior with that setup?

No but there have been a couple guys run the MMX in the stock location, on top of the stock electronic box, and it clears the bottom of the interior.

It's a tight fit in stock location. If your motor cables stick straight out of the plug with heat shrink, the cables are pretty vertical and pretty stiff. I had to "loosen" them up by bending them back and forth a few times so they would fit under the interior a bit better. Otherwise, you will be forced to move it too far forward and too close to the battery compartment. Also, the ESC is wider than the receiver box, so I feel like its not as secure as it could/should be. I am going to try to make some kind of plate that goes on top of the receiver box similar to what Screamer did above (I am running stock trans unlike Screamer). Although a plate will take up more clearance that I may end up needing. I also tried to use Velcro instead of double sided tape because I wanted to have access to the receiver box without having to untape/re-tape. However, Velcro wasn't strong enough for some of the bad landings I had. ESC popped off. The thing is a beast! |

I'm building my bomber right now and will have to cross this bridge tonight or tomorrow. Perfect timing with this thread. Hope to see something creative if not I'm sure I'll figure it out. Here is the mount I came up with on the yeti I was able to remove it by the screws too so I hope I can do something like this on the bomber. I'll find out soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

On a side note. You guys running the MMX, are you using the internal BEC? I ran an external one on the yeti but I want to try the internal one and clean up the wiring until I get HH new servo. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The yeti is fatter than the bomber so a side mount won't work with the interior. Yes I am running internal bec with the promodeler servo.

Fits ok in the stock location, just need to pay attention in the interior/battery mount Also having the motor wires in the right angle helped a lot: I have pictures of that here: DenisLM's U4 Bomber build Last edited by DenisLM; 06-28-2016 at 02:48 PM. |

Your motor wires are soldered perpendicular to the plug to that helps the fit for sure. Mine are straight into the plug and they stick up pretty high since the motor wires are so thick.

Looks like I'll try to mount it on the electronics box first. I just set it on there yesterday and it looked way too big to be able to mount it there. Thinking about those optional 90 degree bullets now.doh

I used the Dremel to open the side of the bullet connector. Very easy.

I also run Savox servos in both (1283 and 1270), they are very power hungry. The internal BEC is only for the receiver and the 2 speed servo. | |

On both my rigs running a Hitec 7954sh and a Promodeler V3 servo both at 7.5 volts, I run the internal BEC in the MMX. Neither has shown any sign of being strained. Castle BEC has a 10 amp peak, MMX internal BEC has an 8 amp peak. For my trucks it's been more than adequate.

Always glad to help, you made the right choice with the MMX and I'm sure you'll love it. Once you run that ESC you're immediately spoiled.

I figured I'll buy the HH ble for my yeti when the rtr esc takes a dive. That things set up as a speedy basher so I don't need a drag brake.lol

| Re: Monster X mount Sounds like you're doing the same thing as me right now. I think the bomber is going to be my perfect all around rig and the Yeti will be for fast desert action, where it will probably break. lol
