What servo are people using?

Now I know this has been asked before, I'm not asking which servo is best, but what are people using that is tuff. The original in my RTR lasted less than one battery pack, then my old Hitec something???? Lasted one pack and now a new Hitec WP5646 lasted less than 10 minutes. I have a spare Holmes Hobbies HV 500, is this going to be tuff enough or do I find something else. I don't believe that I'm hard on my gear, I'm not a basher, but I can't afford too many more servos. Any help would be great.

They're kinda spendy to me but I have couple Protek Black Label PTK-370TBL. Good speed, high torque. I have one in my SCX10 II and K-5 Ascender and they have been great. I went with Protek after blowing through a couple Savox servos. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f52f4ef361.jpg

I have run a Holmes SHV500 in my bomber since day 1. After several months of frequent use I have had to replace the gearset. My son has a Hitec 7950 that has been great.

I run a Holmes HV500 in my U4 bomber. Only problem I ever had was when beating it HARD during the Altra 5K this July.
Sheared a center pin, but the servo kept performing through the entire event with some minor play.
Holmes hooked me up with a new top case half and gearset.

Great stuff.

I'm also excited to try the new Tekin servos coming soon.

I was in the Axialfest Ultra5k too. "thumbsup" I ran out of battery with (I think) a half lap left. I was happy that my Bomber was in one piece. My son, with his Bomber, won first place in the 11-15 year old Rock Race.

The Tekin servos did look pretty trick. I did not hear an ETA.

HV500 and a 370TBL

Re: What servo are people using?

I blew through 3 HV500s in my Wraith. I was easy on those too with just trailing... however, they have replaced them. But it's still a pain. I have the new version though. So far so good in my B1B.

I have yet to destroy a Savox 1230 and I run three of them hard.

I just looked at these on Amain, yep the are pricy and by the time I get it to Australia it would be well over $200 AU, but if it does not break might be worth it.

Will it make a difference? At full lock my knuckles are about 2mm from the c hubs. Does that sound about right?

Re: What servo are people using?

Just get a steel-geared savox, 1210 for a trail truck (waterproof) or 1230 for a wraith/bomber. Im pretty sure they are indestructible and actually pretty cheap.

Re: What servo are people using?

Correct endpoint is if the steering is at max angel - the servo stops at that point and don't try to push more.

ProModeler 470oz-in servo - excellent reviews all-around, thread here:

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/elect...ml#post5715427

The thread began on the 420oz-in version, hence the title - they have released occasional upgrades and then the big leap to the current 470. I posted the link to the thread post where mikemcE got his and posted up great images and details of the changes from the older version. It's an excellent buy - best per-dollar, IMHO.

The top Savox (2290sg) is probably the best out there, but is $40-$60 more - which isn't much of an issue for comp crawler rigs, but is somewhat overkill for most everything else.

I have an early Holmes SHV500 - before the bushing mod and will use it on an upcoming second scaler-ish rig with a Holmes PP 2000hv and a Mamba Monster X.

But after reading this forum for over a year - in depth, my RR10 Bomber will be using my recently purchased ProModeler 470, a Holmes PP 3500kv, and a recently purchased Mamba X.

I run Holmes and Savox, and HiTec. All good pieces, but also many failures. Savox 2290 at $150.00 Is bulletproof. At $99.00 for the PM 470. I think it's a no brainer, but prove me wrong. John will hook you up.

have either of you had a single failure of any kind with the pro modelers? I'm tired of fooling around and wanna buy the last servo I ever need.

Re: What servo are people using?

I've not finished my build yet, but I've never seen a report on a failure!

The promodler really is good servo. Robust case and big steel gears make it s winner. For the money you can't go wrong.

No, and as it's a aero servo I searched there also. I've yet to find a failure, pin or gears, motor seems the smoothest out there.
