| Just purchased and built a SCX10
This is my first Axial truck and it's really nice. My question is I had a Novak Rooster Crawler ESC attached to a Integy 55T motor lathe laying about I dropped in there with the stock pinion and spur that came with the kit. I would like to get more wheel speed and still have good crawling power without buying a new motor. What spur and pinion match would you guys recommend for my motor and ESC setup to acheive my goal? Thanks in advance for any assistance folks.

Oh and also, did any of you leave the slipper alone or is there a way to lock it? I have it at the stock setting from the manual (tighten until stop than back out 2 turns). I don't know much about this truck and I thought about just tightening it all the way but do I want it to be able to slip a bit or what do some of you recommend? Thanks.

You might look around in the regular ax-10 forum for more gearing suggestions, I havent gotten that far with mine yet. As for the slipper, I believe the kit came with the parts to build a fully locked trans and delete the slipper you'll just need to look at the ax-10 kit manual on axials website for which part numbers and howto assemble it correctly. |

the SCX10 came with a Trans-lock? i dont think so, from what i can remember but that i would do yea! cool as for the gearing combo, look in the back of the manual given to you in the kit. IT shows all the gear ratio combos with the associated spur/pinion to use. The bigger the spur = more torque The smaller the pinion = more torque The smaller the spur = more speed The bigger the pinion = more speed i believe this is the way it goes^ |

| The Forum advice I have been reading is,,,Volt Up ! Other Tips ppl been giving me is , Throw an old stocker(27Trun) and gear down or 35 turn and gear up,,sayyy 20 to 23 tooth pinion and volt up. 11.1 lipo should give nice wheel speed,,or 8 cell lipo,,, was also told on 7.2 nimh or 7.4 lipo 10 mph is a bit of a reach unless I run a stocker(27turn) Usil the Noob building my first scaler,, |

Can't volt up with a Rooster, 7.2-7.4V max ... Drop the motor wind from a 55t to a 45t or 35t for more wheelspeed (top speed).

I stuck a 21T pinion in and that sped it up pretty good. Than I took the 7cell 8.4v nimh rocket pack from my Slash and stuck it in the truck. Moves pretty good for a 55T lathe motor and when I just want raw crawling power I can still just swap pinions. Thanks all for your advice.
