| heinie_21's hilux truggy. his name is Douggy
I've wanted to do a hilux truggy since day 1 on getting into crawling. i've also wanted k-44's since i first saw them. I couldn't bring myself to drop that many benjamins on axles and a cage, so when the opportunity arose to get them in a trade i jumped on it. (for some reason it's much easier for me to "pay" for new things with some of my old parts i'm not using rather than pay for new things with money haha) What i'm starting with is a MG200 bolt on scx-10 truggy cage. (i guess it's technically a tube bed cage according the the rules) It will go on a scx-10 chassis that used to be my first scaler, but has since been retired due to having more rigs than electronics to run them. bolt on cage on the chassis with the cab. you can also see the interior cage that i'm toying with big jump in progress. electronics mounted. shocks. made the receiver box a "fuel cell". rc4wd 110 shocks rear. Losi big bores front. and as you can see i have some t-rex 60's on there until my k44's come in the mail. |

got the new front end/steering worked out, and electronics placed. waterproofed the FXR with shoe goo all around, as well as the CCBEC. The servo is a Hitec 7955tg. the motor is a 45t rc4wd can. have a handwound 55t waiting for me to feel like doing some soldering again. the rx is a 603FF Futaba. tranny is stock. driveshafts are wraith. also got rid of the losi fatty shocks. they work great but were not complimenting the scale-ness of the rest of the rig. now it has rc4wd 110mm dual rate scale shocks all around. the rear is set up at full droop. the fronts actually suspend the front end a bit. I also kicked out the front end quite a bit. i had links on there that put the wheels smack in the wheel well. it made the whole rig look silly for some reason, but i couldn't put my finger on it! then i crawled with my buddy who is also building a hilux truggy and his front axle was way more forward than mine. it looked way better and helped me identify exactly why i wasn't pleased with the looks of mine yet. got that adjusted and now i'm loving the looks and the performance. the only thing i'm wanting is tires that aren't so wide. the pit bulls freakin rock dont get me wrong, but with such narrow axles, i feel like the pitbulls look too fat on this particular setup. would like to try rok-lox i think. (pm me if you got any haha!) anyway.. on to the good part.. PICS!! double deans all the way! my 3 yotas any thoughts on re-painting the cage? silver? white? flat grey? black? same brown as body? broke my winch hook :( but there's the winch line my best friend gave me for christmas! haha! these are rocks in front of my neighbors house. they got evicted last week, so now i dont have to worry about them catching me playing in their yard hahaah! can you tell i like my axles? nice shot of the front axle. love that black tie-rod. wish my drag link was black. time for some black krylon one thing to be aware of if you get k44's is the kingpins might vibrate loose on you in the first 10 mins of drive time. be sure to lock-tight 'em. i lost 2 of mine without realizing it, but luckily i had only driven them around my living room so i found them. if you lose a bushing between knuckle and chub, dont worry, they're the same as t-rex 60 bushings. little bit of rock rash already. the silver undercoat is showing through in the scratches time to bail! yeah.. it climbed that.. winch free. dont believe me? here's proof: douggy climbs vertical my buddy's yota too. he has since painted it red. looks great. how's that for a photo dump?? lol |

Great looking rig I never had luck with CD cases. I've used some margarine tubs for my XJ body. For my Yota I will user a small sour cream container for the wheel wells. I can post up some pics later if ya want.

Love the vid. How much does it weigh? Climbs well and stays very planted.

| Re: heinie_21's hilux truggy. his name is Douggy I didn't have good luck with the cd case on my yota. It was just too big of a diameter to fit. Especially because my front axle isn't centered in the wheel well, (it's pushed forward) the case had to pushed back because of my headlight buckets. Still looking for something with a closer diameter to the arch on the yota body

Here are a few pics of the margarine container I did tonight....Say Parkay...LOL I like them because they flex and are super easy to work with...make sure its good and clean, give it a good scuff and hit it with some black lexan paint....Insta Wheel Wells |
