| Honcho servo install problem
Ok i have hit a small problem when installing the servo in the standard place on the Honcho kit, due to the longer wheelbase the servo arm now hits the crossmember when the front is under a small amount of compression. Not the only one to find this as there is two of us on a UK forum that have just got the kits and finding the same thing. Looks like i may have to do some trimming of the crossmember, pics to follow. |

Yeah that is an option... one that we'd have to pay extra for ontop of a brand new kit, what's the deal here? Time to start including free BTA steering kits for an oversight in the design dept? I've bought a honcho kit that I'm looking forward to building but it seems that before I've begun there's already an issue that is impossible to fix without cutting or drilling (or buying a 3rd party mod) for a brand new kit! Or have we missed a trick here somewhere? Has everyone just bought a HB kit to fix this issue? |

| I have a spare stock servo plate from my ARTR, have you got a link to a thread on the mod?

Contact under compression is not nearly as important as contact during articulation. If nothing hits while articulating I'd say you're fine. Maybe flip that cross brace 180? |

Does the cross brace serve any purpose other than to add rigidity to the frame? If nothing gets mounted on it then that would be a quick fix... John74 did you try that?

Ended up shaving a couple of mm off the servo blocks which has just moved the servo back enough to clear the cross member.

Ah did look at flipping the crossmember but it is shaped to fit the curved area of the chassis and when flipped would have taken more modding to make everything fit right.

Must be the longer Honcho wheelbase. I have an SCX-10 kit, but it's shorter, as you might be aware. I also went to the Hand Bros kit, so... yeah. Seems like you got it worked out. Good. It's part of the fun right? |

I also had this issue when extending my RTR. I just used my Dremel to mill out the crossmember for clearance.

I would just dremel some of the servo horn off. The part that is touching isnt going to do anything anyway. If it breaks, it will be at the thin mounting part. Also, if you get a thinner aluminum horn, it may not hit at all.

I had th same problem and I just dremeled down the servo holders (dont know what they are called) so it moved the whole servo back and yes it does affect articulation so you have to do it or better yet get a Hand Brothers SCX10 AX10 Scorpion CMS Steering Kit |

i would add spacers to your servo mount so that the servo is moved back.

Hey guys, the easiest fix for this is to remove the 10mm post on the upper 3 link and install one of the plastic 7.5mm posts that is included on the transmission parts tree. This adjusts the caster angle and the servo horn clears Also, you will see slightly better steering with the adjusted caster angle. |

thanks for the heads up! so that 2.5mm will make a difference, but no change in wheelbase length correct?
