| Whats needed to run brushless?
im sorry to say but this thing is just TOO GOOD! It DOESNT get stuck. I wanna try brushless and see how fun it is. What do i need to run brushless? I have a vxl motor and sidewinder esc. And the gearing is 48p right? |

48p is what the spur gear is. Nothing else is needed.

I've never used that combo but that's basically all you need. Swap out your old electronics and pop int the brushless set up.

You will probably need upgraded driveshafts, trannt gears, and bevel/pinion gears. I blew all of these out on a 35t with 3s so I can imagine what brushless will do to it.

I run the cheapy Hobbywing EZ run crawler system in mine and LOVE it!!! I havent done anything to the Honcho itself but installed alloy c hubs and knuckles (but that was for other reasons) and have yet to come close to having any problems. The ez run comes with a program card so you can fine tune to the performance you need without breaking something.

| Yep, eventually, but I'd just run it until something breaks. All I changed out was the motor plate to a DNA motor plate to eliminate some flex and haven't had trouble with the Mamba Max / 5700 combo.

| id have your upgrade parts on hand and then break the stock and replace here- upgrade tranny outputs http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ax30544.htm drive shafts, a must IMO http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/mip08101.htm or these for drive shafts, these are a little less $$ http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/jun90025.htm heavy duty bevel gears, but i dont think you'll need them http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/ax30395.htm |

Definitely RPP Hobby FTW! Fastest shipping, great prices, great service. The bevel gears/pinion would be the last thing I would purchase and the shafts the first. The collars on the shafts work for popping them off the yokes but do nothing for the shafts twisting. I have done it both ways and the MIP splines are the way to go. Also look at these for the tranny, some people have more problems than others and if the steel outputs still don't do it for you these robinson upgrades will make it bullet proof. Or you can get a summit tranny and Jason's summit tranny mount. http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rrp1542.htm http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rrp1541.htm If you start with the steel outputs and then blow you output gear you can add this instead of purchasing the RR spool above: http://www.rpphobby.com/product_p/rrp1540.htm Here is the summit tranny mount: Honcho/SCX-10 Summit transmission mount. |
