Default Jeep Pickup-*10/18 new shocks and action pics

I've been lurking for a while, and figured I'd finally post. I'm on a few of the other sites online, and just got my first scx10. I had a Gelande Defender 90, that I had fun with, but wanted something different. Long story short here's some pics from my first few days with it.
Bumpstops were removed-
I had this body from my last build that I never used. Wheel base was a little off, but didnt want to change it. Was thinking about a jeep pickup for a while.
Cut and pieced back together
The body wasnt the length I wanted so I extended it another inch or so. Added some bondo work for a few little body tweaks.

Added a little more length under the doors.
Showing the back window meshed together.

Thanks to everyone for all the great info on this site.
cheers,
kyle

Nice looking rig. Where did you get the body?

I started with the Tamiya YJ hard body. Really only used the front have, and back window.

Added some to the top of the bed to thicken it up, and fix the angle.

Added some paint. Body work isnt the best, but I guess it will make it look more like a real crawler.

How are you going to tie down the back of the jeep to the frame?

Im planning on using a bracket that will fit between the "tailgate" and frame with velcro. There's a bed to the cab too. I just havent dropped it in yet.

I like it. Once you add something to fill the rear wheel wells and maybe a little larger tire it will look smokin! Have you thought of maybe a paint like the Desert Sand (one of the ultra flats/camo's from Krylon)? A lighter color like olive drab or desert sand would show the imperfections in the body work less. Looks great anyways. Look forward to seing its progress

Your rig is turning out real nice. Do you have any pics of how you mounted the steering servo?

Thanks guys. They were a huge upgrade. My gelande had the mud pluggers on it, so this will be a big change.

I dont have any yet, but I will snap some. I just used a link from somewhere on here, (I'll see what I can dig up) that showed you how to do it with the provided mount. Just needed to drill a hole or two. If I remember right.

cheers,
kyle

It's possible without drilling holes in the chassis. ;)
