I got a SCX10 dingo for christmas and so far i've put pro line 1.9 Super Swampers and a XL-5 esc on it. Its been pretty fun going through the snow and the new tires go much better than the flat irons. I'm also going to put on a traxxas 2075 servo since i have 3 extra from my revo that i put better ones in.

So back to the title.

So in the future i want to put bigger tires on this, whether it be RC4WD 1.9 boggers or 2.2 boggers idk. So how long are the stock shocks? And are there any good ones that lots of people use?

Stocks are around 90MM to 95MM.

A lot depends on the size tire you use. Low center of gravity is the goal, but to put bigger rubber on you gotta do 1 or 2 things; 1). longer shocks, 2). Raise or trim the body 3). both #1 & #2.

With the Dingo TR, I have 1 and I put RC4WD 110MM Scale Shocks on it with the TwoFace tires which are fairly tall, but I get little too no tire rub on the flares with the body on the lowest setting. I'm satisfied with the COG for the most part (my battery is in the rear, but my wheels are weighted fairly heavy).

Lots of folks use the Pro-Line Power Stroke Shocks which you'll see in searching and reading, find they are very good, but are limited to an overall length of 95MM.

Just do some research on tire diameter to determine what length shock you want. If you go 2.2 I would suggest a minimum of 100MM and you will probably need to raise the body or trim it, which with the flares looks like sh*t IMO. 120MM is getting ridiculous for a scaler, but in the end it's your dough and your truck, but the search button will help you greatly to find what you are seeking.

I have 1.9 and 2.2 rims.

im also not looking for a wicked scale rig but something that can perform decent and still looks like a real truck

That's the dilemma. Do you keep it very scale and sacrifice some performance or do you go with better performance?

If you're wanting to keep it very scale, then consider that a 5mm suspension lift is equivilant to a 2" lift on a 1:1. Anywho, don't want to trigger the whole scale argument.

If it's performance your after, I would go ahead and try it.

Well if i put a huge lift on it it will be the equivalent of a huge lift on a 1/1

I think ill go with 110mm shocks from RC4WD. If they end up being to big i can put the stock ones back on. Plus right now i have the body jacked all the way up and the tires still rub sometimes. Im going to put a 80 chevy on it soon

was just thinking this myself, my stock honcho is going to eventually getting new shocks, i was looking at the 110mm scale shocks from rc4wd but now thanks to eemmaaxx i see that the 100mm would be more than plenty enough for me

Are they a direct bolt on? Because a full get if those cost the same as 1 set of power strokes

Im currently running the RC4WD Dual spring 100mm Scale shocks on my Dingo and I have had great luck with them. They seem to perform very well in all conditions and are very reasonably priced. Its all about personal preference in my opinion, so I say check around with other members on RCC and then try things out and see what works best for you.

after looking at the pictures of the shocks i posted, i decided not to go with them, from the pictures i've seen the shock bodys look way to large to be scale, and then when i made the decision to look into getting these http://store.rc4wd.com/The-Ultimate-...er-_p_912.html

they seem more proportional. can anyone confirm this?

i have seen those RC4WD shocks on many many rigs and they look great....They take work to get to perform though because they have lots of stiction... You basically have to polish the shafts and lube the o-rings...Theres a few threads on here that address these shocks and ways to fix their problems..

Just bought the Hot Racing 100mm Internal Spring shocks for my SCX and I'll be putting the new Baja Claws on it (soon). Should be plenty of room, and I don't mind raising hte body a few mm if need be.
