Default Whoodies' Cherokee

Well the Honcho had a good life. I think the water in Disney Oklahoma finally did her in. With Rocas Rojo coming up soon, I decided to rebuild the Honcho using a new Pro-Line Cherokee body.

  • Shortened Axial Honcho
  • Hand Brothers CMS
  • Hitec 5955
  • Traxxas VXL-3S ESC
  • Traxxas Titan 12T
  • Robinson Steel Outdrives/Diff Gear
  • MIP Drive Shafts
  • Futaba 4PK
  • 3S Lipo

I left the VXL-3S ESC and 12T Titan in but pulled the Summit transmission in favor of a better CG with the stock Axial trans. The Cherokee is quite a bit slower now than the Honcho was, but I've got some things planned to rectify that (MMP, 10.5 Tekin Brushless Motor, 6s) . I managed to snap a few pics before her maiden voyage, take a look

I shortened the wheelbase by using Traxxas 5318 links for the front and rear lower links. With the Axial axle truss on the rear axle, the 5318 links work great for the rear uppers as well. Front uppers were basically the same, I swapped a few ball ends on the Hand Bros CMS kit to bring the pinion angle back to where I wanted it.

New power system will be in the works shortly, I also like the way the TR front bumper looks, but I swear it hits everything. Maybe I'll break out the brazing supplies if it bothers me enough.

Let me know if you guys have any questions

How often do you go to Disney? I go there at least twice a month while driving my 1:1 rig.

Not that often unfortunately, it's about 5 hours away from home here in Dallas, Tx. Funny thing is that both times I've been, it's been flooded out. I'll be back in September for Nationals

So you'd vote no to a roof rack?

Did you paint the window frames on the outside or inside?

Inside. It's actually not bad considering the windows are squarish for the most part. The most difficult lines were the windshield and rear window. Just use the supplied window masks then get some good masking tape and line it up with the window frame mold lines. Spray your body color, then remove the mask to reveal only the window molding. Spray that and you're done
