Default drill stock shafts?

Next week I should be starting my "sum-scx" project. Doin a summit trans with a dinky mount in my scx. People are saying to go buy all these different axles but for now couldn't I just shorten as needed and drill one side out to 6mm?

Several of us run the Axial axles, no need to buy others. Drilling one end of your shafts out is easy and works fine, but shortening them may get you in trouble. You can shorten your shaft(s) IF there is enough material mating to get by with it. Junfacs and Punishers would probably work. I don't recommend shortening MIP's since the female threads don't extend all the way to the bottom of the shaft. I tried, and ruined one. Ended up getting a shorter "dig" shaft, problem solved.
