| HOW TO LOWER SUSPENTION FOR NOOBS!!! (without zipties )
OK. well, this is my first thread, so tips would be helpful. Any ways. i am goin to show all you guys how to lower your suspention a half inch, with almost NO COST! Well that is if you still have your stock spacers that came with your axial. you wont see anything ecsept for your lower chassis . So enough chit-chat, on with the upgrade. Tools: [IMG][/IMG] All of the tools that you need is a 2.5 and 2.0mm hex screw drivers (for removing the shocks) a 7mm and 5mm wrenches, and maybe a plyers. 1: take your shocks off completely. 2: disassemble your shocks (until you can take off the shaft) and empty of any shock oil 3: Remember those spacers I was talking about? Well its time to use em', illl show you in these pics. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] 4: Now you my reassemble you shocks, and refill your shocks. [IMG][/IMG] And here is the 1/2" difference: [IMG][/IMG] sooooo, YA!! Hopfully that helped and saved some $$$. Kuz i mean would you rather be sad, and down about $40, or be proud of you work without spending anything??? it completely up to you. EDIT: do not do this upgrade!!!!! I will have a new and improved version at the bottom!!! Last edited by mitchr97; 07-27-2012 at 06:13 PM. |

Not sure why you would want to do this and limiting shocks internally has been around for many many years but glad you tinkered and figured out something that works for your truck.

After thinking about it, using that wide of a spacer versus fuel tubing, you are blocking the piston holes making a stiffer shock in addition to limiting ride height and articulation.

There are an awful lot of negative know it alls on this forum!! Why do some of you got to put him down by being like oh I already know that! Why can't you just either leave it alone and move on or encourage people to keep learning and trying new things to them!! Get a life you losers!! Thought these forums were to encourage and inspire< not belittle people who are excited about this hobby! |

Nice work FordRox. Just out of curiousity, though, why would you want to lower the truck?? Wouldn't that make it harder to get over obstacles? Or is it purely aesthetic?? |

The one thing you gotta remember about why we use zipties is that it sucks the suspension down but still allows your suspension to articulate like its supposed to. Good write up and idea! I'll give ya that.

free n simple w all kit part, nice. but to clear the piston holes, i think all you gotta do is cut a lil off the spacer top at an angle. so instead of squared off, it has a cone shape. maybe, havent seen the scx10 piston in a while....may be time for a rebuild... |

although this is common practice on lowering ride height, i gotta say....get rid of the scx10 shocks!! garbage imo, they leak and are weak! even the 100mm traxxas tmaxx shox would do you well. but for the efforts... good work! |

| Re: HOW TO LOWER SUSPENTION 1/2 "!!! (without zipties ) well, my tuck is going to be kinda in between the ultamate off-road, and the everyday truck that tows an 86' kyosho buggy around, so i am happy with the stiffness, and seirously? its only a half inch.

| Re: HOW TO LOWER SUSPENTION 1/2 "!!! (without zipties ) I did look, and found that the spacer i used is about the same size as the little "c" ring that holds the shaft in place. Plus, i would rather have a stuffer suspension, for future towing purposes. |

for stiffer suspension youll need a higher grade oil (ex: 40w, 50w) ride height is in the coils, you never change spring-rate with spacers, soforth. |

OK! well i have found a better way to do this!!! and it doesnt effect the travel, only the ride height! and i know this isnt new, but for all of you noobs out there this will help to keep a lower COG ( center of gravity ) so here she goes. 1: remove you shocks from your truck. stock shock right?
2: remove your springs.
3: flip your adjusting nut upside- down.
4: adjust your nut lower so your axels won't contact the chassis. 5: put the large spring and seperater washer back on.
6: glue your spring to the washer and spring holder.
7: Put back on your truck, adjust to your liking, and I will show you what this does. unflexed:
flexed:
And there you have it! lower COG but still normal flex. Last edited by mitchr97; 07-27-2012 at 06:10 PM. | ||||||||||||||

i think its a good idea if it gets what u want it to do. each to their own aye, people have different builds for a reason lol. i done something the same but put the spacers on top of the rod to lift the front end a lil only around 4mm
