Default Bee's Xj

K guys, I'm new on this forum so better that I introduce myself before start posting my build. I'm Bee from Malaysia, this is my first time getting into RC hobby. It was hard to find any SCX10 kit here in Malaysia, so I figure I grab one from ebay! It was a dingo!

& then the assembly begin!

first mock up!

& time for masking

I call it red zebra

& then my XJ arrive! & my camera broke...so rest of the pic will be taken by phone until my camera get fixed

Thanks adam, Accually no idea, was thinking about army green but that's the stock honcho's body color, maybe I go with gun metal or something...

& the brass goodness! it's still in progress but here's what I've done so far *;D my heavy duty cross-over rear support bar

& let's not forget the front bumper mount *;)

here's some more

the making of rear tire carrier (square tube 5/32)

mockup

& skip to the finish product

& yes it can be open

& my front bumper! reserve a slot to install the winch

next stop : rock slider & maybe interior roll cage But i think I won't do that, it weight almost 4 kg naked now *

After cleaning up the weld

Fits like a glove! some more support brace must go on before I call it done

Then I remove the tire carrier, trim off the lexan bumper & extend the brace.

I ran out of brass so the whole project is on hold now, here's the last shot of my xj

i think those are the best bumpers i've seen on a cherokee, i also like the size the tubing you've used as they look rugged and to scale. can't wait to this thing come a long, keep up the good work

VERY nice fab work. The Cherokee looks sweet with the fender flares cut off.

I just got my XJ painted! was going to paint the body gunmetal & use krylon flat army green on the outside, but the gunmetal turn out great! at least it's scale enough for me finish off the body with "flat clear" by tamiya, gonna say I LOVE THOSE STUFF! also braze the 2 support mount bracket on the front bumper for the spotlight before painting it, here's the latest result

every dingo owner should be familiar with these mount

Next stop: inner wheel guard & maybe some interior

looks great! my only concern is the spare being mounted off center... does it make it list? and it looks like it sticks out the side so in tight places it will get hung up...

you painted the outside of the body?

Thanks mate, I remove the spare mount, it was bait much weight on the right, also the bumper was extend too much on the rear, thats why i re-fabricated the whole rear bumper to minimize the offset as much as it can goes.

& I painted inside the body, use tamiya smoke rattle can on the outside( the kind they use to tint the window) on the roof rail, door handle & front hood, turn's out it gives me the look I want, dark gunmetal not completely black. then I mask off the window outside & give it 3coat of tamiya flat clear which gives the result you see on the pic, painting outside the body was my first idea but figure it would be easier to repair if the flat clear got scratch. hope it helps

Looking good. Rear gate hinges are a nice touch.
The Flat Clear is some handy stuff to have around for sure. (I heard it was discontinued though)

Edit-Great job on the front bumper too!
