| 2.2 Pit Bulls
Hey guys, I've done some searching but I'm having a hard time finding pics of SCX10-based rigs with the 2.2 Pit Bulls - would somebody mind pointing me in the right direction or posting up a few? I'm running a bone stock SCX10 Honcho (silver-body) with no big plans in the future aside from a new body (Hilux), waterproofing and aluminum links (will try and make some). I'm either going with the Vanquish Products SLW V4 or Axial 2.2 beadlocks (I know, big difference) but I'm having a tough time making the commitment to go away from the scale look with the Pit Bull 2.2s, versus staying with something more scale (even if it's a 1.9). I don't do any comps, this is solely a hobby that I do in my limited free time but I want to get the best tires for the money and Pit Bull is always at the top of the list. A close second would be the Axial Ripsaw 2.2s - I do like the look of them and they are doing just fine on my stock Honcho at the moment but the Pit Bulls just look so damn awesome. Any pics you could post or links you could provide would be appreciated. If I'm missing a thread that's right under my nose, don't be afraid to send me a link and call me a newb. Cheers, Fink |

Thanks for the pics dude - I appreciate it. I think I've pretty much decided on the 2.2 Pits after seeing your pic; just have to decide on wheels. If anybody else has pics of their SCXs on 2.2 Pits I'd love to see them. Thanks again. Cheers, Fink |

1.9 Pitbulls are large for 1.9 and I'm loving mine, but I enjoy comps and pushing what I & the truck can do. If your going after the amazing looks and your not doing comps, go 2.2 Ripsaws or Pitbulls. Both are IMPRESSIVE! The photos above are fantastic! My truck is pretty much scratched up crawling through rocks. |

I am definitely nowhere near running comps or anything. I just love the look of 2.2s and am interested to see the performance gains they bring. Thanks again for the reply! Fink

Well after waiting several weeks for the beadlocks that I wanted to come back in stock everywhere, I finally got a few of them mounted. Hoping to get the rest mounted this weekend as well as my 2nd Honcho body modded to fit them. Here's a teaser... Thanks again for the help with the pics - definitely helped me make up my mind! Cheers, Fink |

Took an hour this morning before work to get the rest of the Pit Bulls mounted. I'm stoked. Second Honcho body should be arriving today - trimming will begin tomorrow night. Fink |

You're going to be blown away by the performance gain! It looks like you'll need to trim up that front bumper too. |

I will definitely need to trim the front bumper. I'll probably just copy what Axial did in their article about fitting 2.2s. Until I can get an aftermarket one that is. Fink

Couldn't wait until tonight to trim the body as I want to spend most of the weekend crawling so here are a few shots of the body after it's been trimmed. I went ahead and took out the entire flare/quarter panel. It still rubs a small amount at the bottom edge of the rocker but I can deal with it. Will work on the bumper tonight, or just remove it so I can drive it this weekend and deal with it later. Going to work on a few small scale things over the weekend - sleeping bag, chain/rope, etc... Thanks for looking! Cheers, Fink Last edited by Fink; 05-25-2012 at 07:52 AM. |

As for the wheels, I believe the Axial Part Number is AX8097. I got the black ones. I would recommend ordering them soon. The day I made the decision to go with the 2.2s I found them online, got home after work, went to order them and they were gone. They didn't come back in stock for about three weeks. Looks like both Tower and A Main have them in stock right now, though. Unfortunately the Pit Bull foams were out of stock everywhere when I ordered but I went with the Pro-Line 2-Stage Memory Foams and so far they seem like they are going to work pretty well. I have yet to drive it so if for some reason they don't work very well I will report back and let you know. Pro-Line Part Number for the ones I have is 6172-00. Here are some links too: Axial 2.2" 8-Hole Beadlocks (Black) - AMainHobbies.com Pro-Line 2.2" 2-stage Rock Crawling Memory Foam - AMainHobbies.com I got my Pit Bulls from RPPHobby.com also - if you want the link, let me know. One thing I totally forgot to do in my haste to install them was to vent the wheels. I installed one, rolled it around a little and started squishing it to get the foam seated right and it only took about five seconds to realize I forgot. Quick hit with the Dremel on all four (drill was out in the garage) and I was done. Good luck! Fink Last edited by Fink; 05-25-2012 at 10:26 AM.
