Adding A BEC

Just a quick question hopefully. If I'm looking to add a BEC to my otherwise stock SCX10, is adding it to my system the only thing I need to do, or will I need a different ESC as well? I'm afraid the stock ESC may have issues.

Thanks!

You don't need a new esc for a bec unless yout current one is already on its last leg!

Re: Adding A BEC

I'm currently having some steering issues (in another thread in this sub forum) that may or may not be stock ESC related. I'm throwing a BEC in there because I'm upgrading my servo to something a little beefier than stock and figured it was wise.

An external BEC is always a good upgrade and it doesn't break the bank.....especially when going to a stronger servo.

Re: Adding A BEC

...was thinking about doing the same thing. Just switched to 3s and need to wire in a BEC, currently causing repeated glitching in my otherwise perfect FXR. I wanted to pick up a CC BEC but thought that the Castle Link only works on PC? I wanted the option to program the voltage output but not sure if it'll work on my mac. Are there pre-programmed ones out there, or services where others will program for me? Or is it something I could borrow a friend's PC and be done with it? Castle Link would cost me more than the BEC itself, seems counter-intuitive.

the only thing you will need todo with your old esc is disconnect the red wire from the rx plug as you dont want two bec`s trying to work the same servo as you could end up killing your esc

Yeah, I've seen this in tutorials. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions when it comes time for the install.

I just ordered the CC BEC today along with a new servo and a few fasteners (trying to build a general supply.)

Do I need to utilize the castle link system?

Re: Adding A BEC

I concur. I may just see if my LHS has one. I'm waiting for other components to come in for my build, so I'm not in a rush.

Thanks!
