Axial SCX10 Jeep Chero-Manche

Well here is another reincarnation of my SCX10, and to me, my favorite. As the title says it's a Jeep Cherokee in tamiya gun metal with a 11.8 inch (300mm) wheelbase. Still need to do bits to it like make bumpers and sliders and possibly some lights and an interior.

Previous build: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/axial...73-bronco.html

Body details

Decided to leave the grill decals off as i painted the grill area jet black so having shiny decals on it would look weird

Chassis layout: Put the rear shock towers in the dingo location and put the battery behind the transmission
http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/...ps79afeccd.jpg

I also replaced the majority of the hardware with some nice stainless stuff which doesn't round

Articulation

Front tire tuck

New pro-line scaler shocks (95mm), butter smooth and don't leak
http://i1066.photobucket.com/albums/...ps911b1185.jpg

To come: Replace the 30wt oil in the shocks with some Team Associated 40wt (made by Lucas Oil 8))

Spec list:
-Novac 35t with rooster crawler esc
-Savox digital sc 1256tg
-25t aluminium servo horn
-Spectrum radio gear, 2 channel
-3 racing driveshafts
-3 racing steering knuckles
-Axial c-hubs
-Axial uninersal shafts
-1.9 pro-line tsl
-1.9 pro-line titus wheels, weighted on the fronts
-Pro-line Jeep Cherokee body for crawlers
-Pro-line scaler shocks
-4000mh stick pack
-Homemade aluminium links

Thats it for now, tell me what you think, comments are appreciated and feel free to ask any questions"thumbsup"

You ever thought about painting some details on the outside of the body? Like the rear bumper and grill in silver. Then hand paint the door handles too.

I have, but if I do anymore detail on the truck it will be black, to keep simple, and for the bumper, well that will be removed when I start making some tube bumpers. Thanks for some suggestions though"thumbsup"

Cheers man, If I didn't cut the arches the body would have to be sky high to clear the tires haha, It looks much better anyway!"thumbsup"

Lose that tamiya connector!!! Wouldn't be a bad idea to lose the nimh battery either.

Is this the larger version body? Mine at under 12" wb is stretched. Urs seems spot on.

Yep, the tamiya connectors will be replaced with deans connectors. Being 17 years old, at college in full time education and funding for driving, I can't really afford to go to lipo's just yet, it will be done though.

This is the 'smaller version'. The wb is 300mm and assuming an inch is 25mm, the wb is 12 inch, however I done a google search to convert 300mm into inches and the actual wb is 11.8 inches, so thanks for spotting that and I have since changed the op."thumbsup"

Re: Axial SCX10 Jeep Cherokee

New parts came in yesterday, took a while because the drive shafts weren't in stock, but anywho, got it all put back together when I got home from college yesterday and also did a couple other things to the truck. I sprayed the axle housing (hard to tell in the pictures), sprayed the wheel arches, removed the rear bumper and mounted the hi-lift jack on the back like I did on my Bronco.

I made a log/rock climb going up the steps in my back garden today to really test the capabilities of the Cherokee. I'm super impressed in the way it's handling at the moment. I get some pictures up in the next couple of days and maybe some video. "thumbsup"

Thanks.

Very happy with the truck, now that most of the maintenance stuff is done, I thinks it's time to start making bumpers, just need to get the material and a tube bender. This will be my first time brazing so I can't wait for that "thumbsup"
