battery mount setup questions

I have a honcho thats starting to get a little heavy with its bumper and sliders. I currently run a front mounted battery and generally run 5000mah 2c lipos. As of right now this is too much weight/too far forward and the thing tips almost instantly when its off camber. She crawls like a mountain goat straight up, but cant do anything else right now.

Where else are you guys mounting them? Anybody running lipo saddle packs and have a good mounting solution? I like this idea but afraid to get the lipos wet.

Re: battery mount setup questions

You can flip the battery mount to the rear of the truck if it really is that front heavy.

I run my monster 6400 3s lipo right behind my front shock mounts. Better balance and lower Cg.http://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/...pszjtzdxoz.jpg

Lonelycreeper's set up is what I run. It seems to be about the best all around set up, aside from the batteries being on the sliders. I made my own low center of gravity battery plate, but you can buy them too.

I run mine mounted to the sliders...

I have home made sliders now...
but I also had these mounted the same way on the stock sliders.

these are 2200mah 3S LiPos
they now utilize a "Y" harness (Parallel)
offering 4400mah.

I mount mine on the side. Works awesome and crawls everywhere

I have mine running across the chassis behind the shock mounts. I'm using the Jeane Racing ultra pattern plate and 5500 3s lipo. Setup has worked great for me.

Looks like I may have to invest in some saddle packs. I have warrior sliders, anybody make plates that will mount packs there? I also have my ESC off the side of my one slider so i'll have to relocate that.

Or suggestions to mount below the front shock towers

Re: battery mount setup questions

Just using the stock aluminum battery tray I made a mount off the front shock tower brace that bolted to the plate. Simple and cheap.http://i1240.photobucket.com/albums/...psdj7grzen.jpg

I run saddles on my Honcho...I fit two 5000mah 2S runnin on my parallel harness....crawl for days.

Home made trays out of angle aluminum bent and riveted together then riveted tabs on to mount to my RC4WD sliders

I have mine across frame behind front shock hoops but plan on doing saddles on sliders soon. Make your own mounts using styrene, cheap easy and light..
