I want/need to get another crawler for my household, i have a Wraith, my son has a ax10 Deadbolt, and my dad has a Losi Nightcrawler... i want to get an SCX10, but not sure which one to get, mostly used when camping and some Get togethers with other crawlers... I have a Jeep JKU, but not 100 sure if i should get the scx10jk the JK Kit or even a G6 or something...Does anyone like the new AE-5 ESC in the newer RTR's or should i get a Kit...i want to get a spektrum radio soon while they have the free receiver promotion going on. Help please |

mu little bro get the deadbolt with the new ae-5 esc and it seems really good so far the drag brake seems to work pretty good the only thing i don`t get is why axial stopped giving the beadlocks with there trucks as there really needed so you can weight the wheels without having to strip the tyre`s off and then reglue them back on if you cant get hold of a set of beadlock`s straight away

I would say the G6 Kit, best value for money IMO. If you're strapped on cash after you build the kit, you could always pick up this for a power plant.

I'm not a fan of the Spektrum radios... seems like they have too many glitching issues when mixed in/used with other radio systems in their range. ^ at least from my experience. I'm also not a fan of the AE-5 as it cannot be adjusted via USB/PC link. It's not terrible... just has limited adjustment capabilities. The SCX-10 chassis are all the same... it's just what options come in the kits. The most important option is not fancy shocks or licensing. ...but metal link rods and metal steering links. every SCX-10 chassis sporting plastic suspension and steering links will need eventual upgrading anyways. If a kit comes with those... that's the one I'd look at buying. Just realize... no matter what SCX-10 chassis you buy... it will be like throwing money into a black hole. Lol But it's still one of the best scale crawler chassis going |

The Rtr honcho is a great stock vehicle. A good option if you wanna just toss in a battery and go. For me to do it all over again I would start from scratch and build it with all the upgraded parts the way I want it. The big ? is how much of your hard earned money you feel comfortable parting with? Good luck and I don't think you can go wrong with any of the new scx10 options. As for radios, I've ran traxxas, axial, spektrum dx3e and now futaba 4pls. Really happy with the 4pls. Works great and no glitches. I noticed the spektrum would freak out when used around other radios.

If you like Jeeps, I'd get the Falken G6 RTR. It comes with several new features that are great improvements to the scx line. 32p spur/pinion gears, double slipper clutch, much stronger drive shafts, decent metal geared servo. Also has the Falken tires which seem to work good. However they are glued on which sucks because the stock foams are too soft... The Ae-5 is an okay esc, it's cool that it's 3s lipo capable right out of the box. My Deadbolt came with one too, I didn't like the lousy low speed throttle control though. I'm spoiled by Holmes BRXL's in almost all my other rigs. |

| Re: SCX10 general Questions I agree with this as well. I attended a G6 last weekend and a few nearby that had a Spektrum were having issues. The funny thing is that the cheap Flysky systems were "hitting" the Spektrums. Spektrum makes killer aircraft systems (have one), but there is a disconnect with their surface systems for some reason.

But at my last gtg we had everyone using FlySky radios turn them off... and the spektrum radio was still having issues from other radio brands. I personally think it has more to do with the spektrum's deficiencies/faults then blaming other radio systems. | |

I brought up Flysky because it's true. A lot of tracks have banned them because they interfere with Spektrum. But Spekky's do freak all on their own too.

Glitch buster has always fixed my speks. Scx10 deadbolt has been a great truck for me. Radio is really cheesy but I'm not afraid to smack it on the rocks. |

Id go rtr and upgrade as you can or need to...most dont feel the metal upgrade shocks and metal links you get with a kit are all that great anyway..most upgrade fanatics replace them anyway with better parts...you get a much better deal in my opinion with opting for the reliable electronics you get with an rtr and upgrade the shocks and links...you truly only need the steering link and lower suspension links to eliminate the weak spots..get yourself a different pinion gear and some good tires and foams and enjoy it...its funny that many go with plastic shocks as an upgrade with the traxxas big bore shocks...metal doesnt mean anything but more weight for the most part ...you can get traxxas big bores for less than 40 bucks...price the axial metal shock kit for a comparison....the axial links have weak attachment points and crappy ends. These trucks are money pits if you go by the latest "craze" of all the parts you can get for them...a majority of the actual performance improvements come from knowing what to modify and not so much with how much you spend or what the name brand is. Whatever you decide to get, just remember its not how much you spend but what you know that makes the difference. Last edited by 6sharky9; 10-26-2014 at 08:55 AM. |

I personally think all of the scx10's are good it just a matter of preference of what body and tires you want since they are all pretty much the same
