Steering servo relocation question Hey all. Just relocated my steering servo, as see here: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/e...psxxtbxtdz.jpg Now, how the heck do I connect the servo arm to the steering linkage so that it doesn't bind up on the chassis? Do I need to bend the short link, or make another? Please post pics of your set up. Thanks in advance. |
Re: Steering servo relocation question Generally speaking, you want the panhard and steering link to be the same length and parallel to each other. |
Re: Steering servo relocation question So switch it to the other side? |

Re: Steering servo relocation question Swap your drag link to the same side as the panhard, also get rid of the y link and just run a single upper link."thumbsup" |
Re: Steering servo relocation question One upper link? Really? Which one, right side or left side. thanks! |

Swap the draglink so that it is going to the passenger side knuckle. |
Re: Steering servo relocation question noob question alert. Why is chassis mount better than axle mount? |
Re: Steering servo relocation question Quote:
Axle mount gives you the most efficient use of the servos power to move the wheels. |
Re: Steering servo relocation question The lvl 3 set is also very prone to binding. I tried it, didn't like it at all. It did work a little better with a homemade panhard bar with revo rod ends and 8/32 all thread. |
Re: Steering servo relocation question I like CMS setups generally, but that particular setup looks off. First, I much prefer when the servo is mounted vertically instead of horizontally to minimize binding. Second, it looks like your drag link setup is off. As is, it looks like your servo would run out of travel quickly when turning to the right due to the angle of the servo horn, thus limiting your steering to the right side. Either the link should be attached to the opposite knuckle, or you need a much shorter link so that your horn is vertical when the wheels are pointed straight ahead. If you can't get it sorted with this kit, the RC4WD CMS kit is very good. Good luck! |
Re: Steering servo relocation question I switched the drag link, works much better now. I need to put power to it and center the servo, see if I have any travel issues but it appears that it should fit up nicely. Thanks for everyones help, I'm learning as I go. Seems I forgot everything I learned on my AX10. |
