Locked Up's SCX10 II Build Starting the build right now. We will get a picture at the end of each page with some thoughts on our progress. First thing, right out of the bag.... Frame is the same basic shape, with just a few additional holes. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3971.jpg And note # 1 from page one: They mean M2x8 screws. Not M2.6x8 http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3988.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II First little hiccup.... No matter what we do, the locker/gear assembly will not go into the housing far enough to be centered with the axle tubes. It's close, but when trying to slip a shaft in we looked down the tubes and noticed this.... http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_6636.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II And having fun withe the SCX10 OTVD inners... http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_6646.jpg NO, they will not fit. The AR44 carriers are much to small. :ror: |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Front with steering linkage. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3976.jpg Beefy linkage. Maybe overkill beefy linkage? :ror: http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3977.jpg |

So what did you do to fix it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Quote:
Stock shafts will go in and it will "work" because there is play for things to move around. It is really tight on one side and loose on the other though. Over time the shaft being off will probably cause wear/fatigue which is not ideal. Will just have to see. The real issue (for us) is that if the housing is off, and we tried to jam an OT shaft or FI spool in there... the bind could be worse and could prevent rotation. |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Got ya all these lil hiccups and issues kinda make me regret my preorder lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Playing with the wheels while Eric builds the kit. The original SCX10 beadlock vs the glue on SCX10 II. Offset (not backspacing) is identical. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3979.jpg Original SCX10 clearance: http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3980.jpg Our 8L clearance: http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3981.jpg Because the 8L fits, it means all our SLW wheels will still fit with our .185 SLW style hubs. "thumbsup" |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Eric is assembling the shocks so I get to play with wheels & tires. Stock vs Ikari AO8™ http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3985.jpg Stock vs Ikari AO8™ with a 1.9 widener. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3986.jpg The stock wheels is within 1mm of the Ikari. So to keep it as close to stock as we can, we will run the wideners ... but they do look good! |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Eric's note: The instructions don't mention it, but if you plan on running bump stops make sure you put them in before you put the rod end on. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3987.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Shocks done. Opted for reservoir front and plain jane rear. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3989.jpg Time to open the D bag.  |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Looking good! Digging the detailed pics and aftermarket tech  |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Wheels done. Recycled rings from the H2. I like blue. :flipoff: http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3990.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Transmission & Transfer case done but.... http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3997.jpg "When you see it." http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3996.jpg Oh and Axial..... you owe me one 3x18mm screw. |

Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II With the kit, you get 2 skid plate options. One is drilled for the old transmission. One for the new. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_3999.jpg Compared to SCX10 original skid. Only thing I see different is the 2 added captures. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4000.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Driveshafts done. Short is 93mm collapsed and long is 140 collapsed. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4001.jpg If you are looking for upgrades: Devil RC @ Locked Up RC  Compared to previous versions. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4003.jpg Installed... mostly. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4005.jpg |

Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now. |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now. Random servo added just to get through the build. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4007.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now. End of page 25. Driver side frame assembled. DO NOT forget to run your servo wire under the cover (bottom of page 25) if you are going to use it. Otherwise you will get to disassemble a few things. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4012.jpg Note: When attaching the front cross member, my holes/nubs did not line up. My fix was to slice off the numbs. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4008.jpg http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4009.jpg |

Thanks. Will correct that in a second. Connecting the CMS, I noticed the drag link rod end angles max out before I want them to. This is at rest: http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4016.jpg I started to connect to the servo arm and I realized the arm I had wanted to use (for scale appearance) was going to have the draglink and track bar out of alignment. They are aligned in the pic but that screw is not tightened.... yes the 2mm matters to me. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4017.jpg So I busted out a trusty Axial part from the stash. The alignment looks dead on, but there is still a bit of pull on that draglink. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4018.jpg http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4019.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now. Rear end going in and got a surprise. We had rotated the lock outs to hide the screws, but had to remove to put the lower end of shocks on. This is only because of how we mounted the lockouts. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4020.jpg http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4021.jpg We like to run around and stick our shafts in things... http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4022.jpg End of page 29... http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4023.jpg http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4024.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now. The electronics box looks nice. The screws that hold the top on are PLENTY long enough to really crank down on it. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4025.jpg On the back side you have an additional silicone gasket for the servo leads. I'm guessing you'd want to slather the extra holes with liquid electrical tape or sealant of some sort if you are not using them all. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4026.jpg |
Re: Locked Up's SCX10 II Build- In progress now. Yes. Right now. Putting the bumpers on and that front is just begging for a Commando Winch System. The holes lined up too.... http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4029.jpg I did go ahead and drill 2 holes in the bottom of the bumper to make it easier to install the screws in the bottom. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4030.jpg I do recommend slightly longer screws because the Axial bumper is thicker than the 3Racing plate/fairlead combo. Yes. I got rid of the 3Racing fairlead because our Aluminum fairlead is just such a close match and looks great! http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4031.jpg I finished it all out with our Winch Saver, Scale Winch Hook and 250lb Yellow Winch Line. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4032.jpg And finally the mounted shots of both the front and rear. http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4033.jpg http://www.lockeduprc.net/misc/pictu...I/IMG_4034.jpg |

:lmao: Eric did the first part of the build so when I got around to the links I just installed what he had built. Will swap those tonight and get some shackles on there as well! |
