Default Rock Beast XL, Hyrax, or Super Swamper?

I'm trying to decide which tire to go with, and I'd love for your guys' opinions.

I've narrowed it down to the Pit Bull Rock Beast XL, the Pro-Line Hyrax, or the Pro-Line Super Swampers.

Which do you prefer, and why? (Also: vote on the poll at the top of the page.)

FWIW, I live in central MD, and everything is wooded and often wet. Good performance on wet leaves would be nice.

Thanks!

I have RB XLs, and they work great, but the Proline Hyrax guys killed it at the Frosty Fun Run this year. May look at a set myself after the holidays

The Hyrax with Proline's new dual stage foam is a deadly combo

I've heard a few of people who have used both say they prefer the Hyraxes over the Rock Beast XLs. But then I also heard one or two other people say they prefer the Swampers for wet leaves/ muddy stuff. I'm probably leaning toward the Hyraxes or the Swampers at this point.

I have all 3, and used all on my scx2, I don't like the hy's, look awful and haven't found a situation where they really excel. The rb2's shine in dryer conditions and on damp rocks, and the proline swampers really show up in the soupy conditions and on jagged stuff. All 3 have been run with the same wheels and 4oz per wheel, so comparison is level. Currently have the swampers on my Scx and they are staying put

I run the original PL swampers on my toyotas and love them in any condition. I have the original and the new XL Pits and love them. The alien compound feels incredible. The Hyrax looks like a pin tire for a comp crawler. They would never be seen on one of my scale rigs. Good luck with your choice. You cant go wrong with 2 of the 3 you listed.

Duratrax showdown's.

I have RBxls with fancy foams. A friend with showdowns could drive around my truck spinning all 4 in dirt/mud/leaves.... There was no comparison. It wasn't even the same league.

^^^ I can agree with this. I have rock beast xl's on my II, and my friend has the showdowns on his II. On pure rock crawling, the rock beasts will perform slightly/moderately better. But on sandy trails, muddy trails, and loose area, mostly anything that isn't pure rock crawling, my friends showdowns have the edge. But.... the rock beasts look better imo and are taller. I haven't ran either of the other tires you said, but I can say I'm really enjoying my xl RB's.

I have not ran Hyraxes yet, but will probably be ordering a set to test soon. We have a few guys running them in our Class 2 series and they are doing good.

TSL XLs are a damn good all around tire. There is a reason that they have been around forever. in the 1:1 world and are replicated so much in the scale world. I love mine.

My comp truck is currently running a set of RBXLs. They are getting better and better each time I take them out, as the foams are getting softer and the tires are starting to wear. I like the compound. As it wears, it feathers off and you get tons of extra biting edges. The Proline G8 compound doesn't wear that way. It seems to feather off smoothly.

I had a dream I was Ralphie in a Christmas story. And all I wanted for Christmas was a set of them Beautiful badass super sticky Proline Hyrax 1.9 tires, with the blue and white dual stage Proline foams. And a set of Beef patties. That way I could compete with the guys that give me such a beating at Crawl-A-Palooza this year.

Are we talking trucks? Because Toyota>>>>All of them. Their trucks basically never break, and they're the only company able to make a practical pickup that isn't f---ing enormous.

But if we're only going with American...Mopar always looks the best right up until they completely disintegrate 5 years later. Ford vs Chevy depends on the year, the model, the person you're asking, the barometric pressure, the current president, the sea ice thickness, and whether the first name of the guy Taylor Swift just broke up starts with a vowel or a consonant.

Cars? I've got a 68 Mustang, so I'm a little biased...

I threw a set of the Swampers on my Christmas list along with a shiny set of beadlocks. I'll probably end up picking up a set of one of Hyraxes or RBXLs at some point, too. Leafy mucky wet stuff is my priority at the moment, but I'd like a more rock-oriented tire for times when that's called for.

Are the Hyraxes a fairly new tire?
