Post scx10 - wide hybrid build?

Has anyone taken a scx10 and put wider like maybe capra axles under it? Put a 2 speed with a decent low speed then a fast second speed for hill killing?
Im not opposed to other axles - is there anything wider?
Did some more research, appears wraith axles are common. does any use the KYX wraith axles on ebay or amazon?

I cant figure out how to post pics on here without uploading them to some website first or i would load pics of my scx10 i got.

There used to be a very popular conversion, putting Wraith ar60's under Honcho's, AKA Wroncho's

Might give you something to search for and builds might give you ideas.

I have the KYX wraith AR60 axles, but they're on a wraith based flat rail chassis and I haven't quite got it running yet. They seem to be very good quality, especially for the price. I also have KYX AR44 portals that I've been running for a couple months on an scx10 II. I'm stoked on those axles, which is why I got the same brand AR60's.

I ordered the portals from aliexpress. These are the AR60's I got on ebay... https://www.ebay.com/itm/223682853097

I think my phat axles are longer than the scx10 axles but shorter than the ar60 (wraith right?) i believe mine are 8.3in vs the wraith is 9.5.
This may be kind of backwards, but im wanting to make get plastic axles ( lighter) so i can put a 2 speed in it and make it sort of a hill killer aswell.
Thats why im going wider, i got 100mm shocks to put on, and 2 speed.

after looking at Wroncho builds, it appears that many people still run fully metal axles in those builds. Do you beat on your trucks with the KYX axles? are the internal parts replaceable?

I'm certainly not easy on my scx10 II with the portals. Nothing broken so far. I'm still working on the wraith, but they seem the same good quality. The vanquish diff gears from my stock ar44's were a direct fit in the portals, so I'm sure the ar60's use standard ar60 internal parts as well. I won't know 100% until I break something.

It's ~14" wheelbase. I haven't figured out the body yet. I got a proline '66 Ford F-100 cab, but it looks like I'm gonna have to hack it so much for clearance it won't even look right anymore. I ordered a Tamiya f350 hardbody, because it should be easier to modify for clearance (dove nose maybe?). Either way it'll end up with a low cog flatbed of some sort.

The Tamiya f350 is rather small,

A 14" wheel base can be tough, unless you are going for the streached look on a rig.

I have a old Proline f650 body that sits at 14" but it is not what I would consider a style you would want the tires sticking out on. I want to say it was a Revo 3.3 body. Here are the current 1/8th scale Mt bodies...

the xr mod is what you are looking for look up beef tubes xr mod the best part about the xr mod is you get the wraiths steering parts that are alot stronger with much better steering angle
or you can pick up the xr width potmetal axles or the new capra axles
or go full sized ar60s
i mostly run potmetal axles the aluminum dosent slide vary well and the axial plastic dosent do heat vary well and gets soft and the gears strip

Just a tad!

I might still use it, though. I don't really care what it looks like at this point. I just need something to protect my electronics a little bit, while I get the rest of the truck dialed in the way I want it... then figure out something more permanent.

Just a heads up on those KYX ar60's, the front axle shafts are garbage.

I finally got the 2.2 finished enough to take out today. Got a couple hours of fun in before a front shaft failed. I expected them to be bad and ordered a set of "upgraded" hardened steel universal shafts when I got the axles. I still didn't expect them to be this bad. Admittedly I'm running quite a bit of power through them (mamba x, 2850kv castle motor on 4s), and the 2.2 rock beasts have a ton of traction.

I just rebuilt the front axle with the upgraded universal shafts, and everything else looks fine. No abnormal wear on the stock diff gears or anything.

The short shaft is bent on both sides of the joint, and the end that goes into the spool started to twist.

The end of the long shaft did a full 360 twist at the spool before it sheared off. Never seen anything like it.

No issues with the rear axle. The shafts still look brand new and appear to be the same (dark) material as the upgraded front shafts.

Yup as others said, Wroncho=SCX10/AR60 axles, or you could fit the redcat 247/wendigo axle to your scx10. (I'm about to install the 247s on a bwd whiplash which I believe is svx10 based.

One thing I may add is that the traxxas summit 2 speed Trans with the wide gear ratio was a popular swap into scx10s long ago.
Someone even made a mount out of SS but you can now print a better designed cradle off of thingieverse.
