Default Ordering parts for an SCX10.2 build

Looking to build another RC rig…
First one was a Wraith Spawn RTR, with several upgrades over the past two years, more of a trail/basher type not really comp, not really scale, kind of in between with the 2.2 wheels, 2s power.
This time I want to go down the kit path and have the intent of a brushless/waterproof setup with the 1.9 wheels with the SCX10 II rig on 3s power.
Here is what I was looking at for building out:
* Axial 1/10 SCX10 II 2000 Jeep Cherokee 4WD Kit
* Holmes Hobbies TrailMaster Pro BL 540 - 3300kv WP
* Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster BR-XL Electronic Speed Control (Water Proof)
* Savox SW-1210SG Waterproof Coreless Steel Gear Digital Servo
* Vanquish Products Aluminum Clamping 25T Servo Horn - 24mm
* Spektrum SR415 DSMR 4 Ch Sport Rec
* Duratrax Onyx LiPo 3S 11.1V 5000mAh 25C Soft Case Deans
* Axial 3 Port High Output LED Controller
* Axial Double LED Light String (White LED)
* Axial Double LED Light String (Red LED)
* Axial 8 LED Light String (White LED)
* Vanquish Products RIGID INDUSTRIES 4" LED Light bar Black
* Team Fast Eddy Axial SCX-10 II Bearing Kit
* axi023 - Axial SC10 II Jeep Cherokee Stainless Screw Kit

Can you please comment about the items I’ve picked out for the build. Are there some that are better? If so, why?
I’m not going balls out on the build as far as costs go, but something reasonable, that will last and prove reliable.
Thanks for the input!
Keith

In my opinion the servo is on the weak side

Cool,
What might you suggest as a WP servo that would be up to the task?

Hey there,
I'm not exactly super experienced in the crawler world but I've had an RTR SCX10 Rubicon for a few years now and built a Yeti XL kit (very different beast).
I replaced the servo on my RTR SCX10 with the Savox you're looking at and had good results trailing and hacking about on a local crawler track. -I think the RTR servo didn't like the higher loads from the crawler track. I've since used the savox with wheel weights (more weight to turn) and through plenty of mud/water on the trails. I'm planning to put the same one in a SXC10 II kit when I get round to doing one. -also figured I'd use same receiver as you're choosing also.

I haven't used the other electronics so will lets others offer opinion for you there.
FWIW Vanquish brand on your servo horn might be extra cost compared to something at LHS or another brand 'x' product you find online. Also I never replaced the bearings on the RTR, just used WD40/CRC and rinsed down regulatory after runs. you could always replace these at a later stage if budget if an element.

cheers

I run hitec 7954sh at 7.4 volts in both my scx10.II. I water proof the servos myself

Makes sense. I am familiar with that one. Conformal spray would work well enough, but I was thinking that just buying WP from the get would be great and not have to worry about making a mistake.
The Hitec D-840WP would be very close to the same spec, and the D-845WP is outrageous torque spec.

417 oz compared 403oz @ 7.4 volts yes very close. Can't go wrong with hitec, there customer service is top notch

I don't think the D840 or D845 will fit. I just had to double check because I would have scooped one up. 400+ oz/in and waterproof hell ya!

But

Axial manual says recommended size is:
21mm X 44mm X 38mm
W L H

I run a 1210sg on my SCX10 II and it seems to be plenty of power for me

1210 should have more than enough power for a SCX10 with stock weight.

You've listed a brushed esc and a brushless motor. These two won't work together. If you want a brushless esc I'd buy a Holmes BLE Pro or the new Castle Mamba X.

I'd also support the savox 1210 as s choice. I have one in my scx10ii, but used to run it it my Wraith (2.2 wheels) as a trail truck. I'd think it would be fine with sub 5" wheels/tyres for trail running and bashing. Obviously, if you want internet bragging rights you'll need the latest, shiniest 2.345 metric tonnes per inch servo for $4000 😉

For what it's worth, I run the SA-1231SG servo (444oz torque at 6V) and it's probably overkill. I haven't waterproofed it and I take it under water quite often and haven't had a problem yet.

Good call out, I was curious about that, it didn't seem right.
I was considering changing the esc and servo to HH as well.
Need to double check the dimensions.
Thanks!

I'd recommend this servo

it's a kickass servo and fairly reasonable (about $90)

don't know the actual number off hand, but it doesn't share the same teeth count as the futaba/savox, or the hi-tech - it fits between them lol

so far so good. I forget what I have me bec set at, but it's plenty fast and powerful

If you go brushless with the HH maybe get a lower kV, 3300 might be a little too much. If you go brushed I like my HH br-xl very much. I'm a hitec guy, but bought a cheap savox WP to try on my 3.98" tired scx10 ii and it works OK, but the HH would be my next choice to try. On mine I just spaces the servo up to clear the link mount. On that note, go with the 20mm servo arm. That's what I have and have zero room to spare.
