What trans are you guys using besides Axial transmissions? Looking for ideas on my build.

Was looking at the ssd scale trans for og scx10. But like $200 for trans and other required parts. Dont really wanna spend that kind of money. But i do want something that i can use a realistic t case

I run the scale SSD transmission, and made it fit with my SCX 10.2 with no additional parts.
Needed to swap to the SCX 10 skid ( provided with kit ) and then mod the forward ALU mount a little with a file

I have not driven it yet, but i have high hopes for it, there is also the + you get overdrive of your front axle without having to buy overdrive parts for it.

And i do like the weight getting shifted a little forward.

Does the SSD have the OD front axle? I thought that was only the GCM. I could be wrong. If I am that would be great since the SSD is readily available.

As far as I could tell, there is only GCM make scale trans with front OD.

Yeah could be i looked closer and they are not quite the same, though the general gearing seem to be listed as the same for both brands.

Maybe the SSD can be converted to front overdrive if it isent, it would make good sense to me if it was sold with gears so you could build OD front or not.

I think i will have a look inside mine.

From my understanding, the SSD and GCM transmissions are both exactly the same when it comes to gearing (14.33:1 Ratio ). SSD makes the transmissions for GCM per a vlog GCM made. The difference looks to be in the LRT2 Transfer case. GCM use to sell the transfer case on its own but from looking thru both of their sites I dont see them offering the transfer case anymore unless you buy the entire combo.

Yep the T case are not the same look thats for sure, but once i have it apart it should be easy to determine if the front output is 1:1 with the rear output.

I think its 11% OD GCM claim so its not like a massive difference in the gears moving power over to front output is needed.


I am working on my DIY WP box, its clearly worthy if the most doped up designer award, but it should be able to house what i ask of it now, and when i change my TX/RX down the road.
