Default My axial

Ive been gatherin up parts for awhile n gettin advice from everybody here. All the help n advice is very much appreciated, thank yall!

Im still gathering parts, but i have takin it out crawlin. Unfortunantly i dont have pics of it in action, but it does really well. Im runnin the traxxas xl5hv with a HH 27t trailmaster motor. Ive got a RRP 23t pinion and a 54t traxxas spur. I used the axial slipper plate by the tranny n a revo style pad/gear plate for the outter part (see pic). My servo is a powerHD 20kg wp, with aluminum horn. Stock axles, but lookin to possibly upgrade. The wheels n tires are rc4wd 1.55 iroks, but i have a new set of 1.9 wheels n tires ordered. I made the body mounts from 3/4" x 1/16" aluminum angle to fit a tamiya f350 regular cab body (in process of paintin). It has stock axial bumper on front n bumper mount in rear with lights installed. But im goina put a set of PL bumpers on it i think, atleast on the front for mountin a winch.

Wat do yall think? I wanted to keep everything toward the front, but im wonderin if the rx box n esc are to high? Ive contemplated turnin the batt crossways of frame n puttin rx n esc where batt is now... All advice n ideas welcome! Thanks for lookin. If pics dont show up, let me know n ill try to fix them

Looks good, just keep in mind you have a high centre of gravity which could lead to some roll overs...

Thats my worry with the rx box n esc up as high as they are. The wheels i ordered are aluminum so thatll help with low weight. Only thing, if i move the batt tray, itll let the servo flex. But ive got some of the aluminum angle left over, i could make a mount for rx box n esc to move up beside servo n go ahead n put batt tray across frame rails...

Best thing to do is just play around,

Mount them up top, go for a crawl, mount them low at the back, go for a crawl, maybe make side mounts, then try again. I like to try and get an even weight side to side, then a heavy nose. A couple of scales works well....

Ive got the scx10.2 side skid plates, but id have to raise them to match the body. Thought about puttin them in the rear as well. The rear mount i made is notched to fit them back there

I really rethinkin how theyre mounted. Think theyd b better up front n batt turnd across the frame. Or should i leave batt n put electronics in rear?

Id move the ESC to over the rear axle if you can. The Radio/Radio box can go behind the rear axle. does the ESC really need a fan for a crawler?

I was sittin here thinkin bout how to move the batt tray n electronics around. Would it b better to get the vanquish bumper/servo mount n turn the servo parallel with the bumper? Then mount the rx box n esc over the axle?

Like this here...

I used an RC4wd receiver box ( looks like a fuel cell) it bolted right up direcetly over the rear axle. I shoved my ESC in there. For the receiver im still using the stock SCX10 radio box in its stock location under the battery tray up front. Not sure if you can do this with the CMS...

You could plasti dip your receiver and mount it on top of your servo.

It looks like your truck bed is pretty raised so you may be able to put the receiver behind the ESC with another "fuel cell" if you go that route

Thanks! I like it, its different. I wish i had an airbrush n lots of practice lol. Goina do the bed n trim, then clear coat it.

In the rx 'fuel cell', does it sit down between the frame rails or up on top? Theres plenty of room under the bed for sure. If u look at the pics of chassis u can see how high the body mounts are. The front is 1 1/2" above shock hoops. I dont remember on the rear, but had to put them that high to clear tire rub. Tryin not to cut away at stock look

Mine sits between the frame rails. its not entirely flush with the rails, kinda like 60-40 raised up. I dont run the lid though. Its just a tray to hold the ESC. I will try to get some pics of my OG Honcho this evening
