Anyone going topless? Cut tops?

I saw a video with the top cot and it looks fantastic.

The link to the video to see it from all angles here here: https://youtu.be/3Bk9K5jV6XI

Anyone else done this? I ordered some scale interior parts and gauges and a topless look may be the ticket to show them off while also losing weight. My kit is still 10 days or so away, so I have time to think about these sorts of things.

Thoughts?

Don't like that way, it's not realistic, a jl when goes toplles, still has the door frames

I like it!
I was thinking about going topless well before that video, and actually I have seen another that has kept the door window frames, and that looked nice too!

I've been thinking about this for days lol, how to do it cleanly and proper, I like it! "thumbsup"
Edit: Forgot to say that I've made my own 1:1 half-doors and to do so I just cut and folded where I liked the look, then welded, little inner door reinforcement and made new inner door panels.

True on the scale accuracy, but I still like it. :)

Nice, looks more scale proper, but in the end it's however the builder enjoys their personalized creation. "thumbsup"

This is true for the standard off the lot Jeeps, but they offer factory half doors too. Not to mention the countless after-market suppliers of half doors.

I have wanted to cut mine down, but didn't like the idea of the interior sitting above the door line. Looks like I may change my mind!

Yep.

Do it, drop interior slightly too?

I LOVE the topless look. Both full and half door done right look amazing. On my old 1:1 scale jeep I had half doors with a bikini top. Think I might go that route.

Here’s mine. I’m not that stoked on the colors now that it’s done. That’s a full size spare tire with the foam removed for weight and better fit.
TIP ... Attach the front door handles to the interior wall panel and the body will be much sturdier. The rear handle doesn’t line up like the front, but I was still able to secure it to the interior by replacing the O ring with a larger diameter washer, then the clip to secure together.

Re: Anyone going topless? Cut tops?

Just got my RTR version (my first rig) and "considering" topless but leaving the door/window frames for sure and maybe the forward section of roof. My curiosity is how sound is the roll cage for roll overs? I haven't even seen mine since it's stuffed inside and I've only had it a few days. Will it handle the abuse the boxy corners of the lexan body can handle? In the back of my head, I'm thinking of doing the mod on my RTR body and getting another to do a bitchen paint job on.

Re: Anyone going topless? Cut tops?

I don’t even pick it up by the cage because it’s pretty flimsy. It definitely helped by attaching the door handles, but it’s not great. I’ve rolled many times with a solid body without issue, but I’d be nervous in a roll over with it cut up.

Re: Anyone going topless? Cut tops?

Waiting for Motor/ESC before I do mine. Been thinking of runnig topless and no bras. lol

Sounds like the Cage is more of a look than a protection thing on the III's? That would be a drag. I hope they wouldn't cut corners on the cage, as they are cages for a good reason.

Still looking at idea of what others have done.
