Default Does this look right?

Brief description:

On first drive I noticed what I thought was the slipper slipping and getting progressively worse. Thought maybe I didn’t tighten the slipper down enough AND we were in a creek... eventually lost all drive but motor still worked as if the (stock) pinion wasn’t even there.

Took it home and removed cover to find above pic.

Pinion was tightly on motor in correct position (?) and it looks like the spur gear became misaligned (pushed towards rear of tranny).

I haven’t had the time to take it apart due to personal family stuff and I’m hoping someone can chime in?

Thanks

I don't remember off the top of my head, but you possibly could've missed a dogbone or placed a gear on the wrong side of one that keeps that shaft from getting pushed in.

You got me curious to see if this was possible...

Looks like anything out of line deeper in the tranny wouldn’t effect this alignment as the spur assembly (shaft) is captured by the bellhouse casing, no?

Maybe I missed the spacer (AX0123029) when assembling the slipper, or used wrong one?

It ran fine for 5 minutes then each consecutive time I put stress on the drivetrain the slipping increased (as if the nut was backing itself off).

Someone please correct me if I’m completely wrong... SOZE is definitely more competent than I am! LOL

Your spur gear appears to be in the correct location. Your pinion gear needs to come out.

Here's what mine looks like.

That's the obvious one! LOL I assumed you already checked that. Adjust it, and apply thread lock on the grub screw.

Lol funny thing is the pinion was on tight and I thought it was in the correct position... it’s been months so I’ll hopefully get the guts back in and put the pinion on correctly. I’m hoping that was the problem... thanks again :-D

It's been a while since I looked at mine, so I didn't remember how far it should stick out. I figured you already took that into account and seemed to be asking if the spur was off.

Your 100% correct. That is exactly what I thought was wrong.
Although it seems I’d be hanging the pinion on the motor shaft rather than fully seated to mate with the spur. I’d have to look at it again though...

Yeah you definitely need to move the pinion out. I had to keep putting the motor in and out until I got correct placement.
