Default jdawg53's EB Futaba Wraith

Got my Wraith yesterday and put about 2 minutes of running on it and then started making some changes

#1 I installed a 4PL receiver in place of the stock rx.

#2 I removed the Tamiya plugs and installed Deans to make running lipos easier.

#3 I installed new rear upper links to help with torque twist. I used XR aluminum high clearance links and mounted them to the tops of the axle (the servo mount holes).

tomorrow......
-Replace the servo with a Futaba BLS152
-Play around with shock options

The length of the SCX10 shocks worked out really well on mine. I like the new ride height, just need to play around with springs and oil combos.

Ya, I have a few different options laying around the office to try. I will post up what I find.

Is mounting the links over the strut doing something for the torque twist? What's the theory behind? I can't get it..

Yes. Changing suspension geometry can positively or negatively effect torque twist.

There are lots of good threads on suspension design in general crawlers. If you want to understand it better do some searching in there.

The stock truck has quite a bit of torque twist. This helped, didn't get rid of it, but it allows the truck to launch straight more consistently.

OK more updates

-Took a dremel and took just a little bit off of the axle brace/upper link mount. It allowed me to relocate the front upper links to the outside of the mounts. Again, this helped with torque twist when reversing. NO I am not color blind, I know the one on the left is blue, I ran out of grey high clearance links. I ordered more today so I should have it swapped out Monday.

-I also instaled a Futaba BLS152 servo with Futaba aluminum horn. (Not that it needs an aluminum horn with the steering links being so flexible but eventually those will be replaced too so I figured I might as well upgrade the horn now.
Note: I tried using a Golden Horizon aluminum horn but it hit the axle housing.

I flipped my servo and moved the drag link to the knuckle. That allowed me to run a Robotronics style horn.

OK so I really wanted an EB body on it and so far so good. I have several things to do to finish it, but here is the start. This body acutally lined up really well.

Nice work! I like the color too. How is clearance with the tires around the fenders?

The fenders will probably have to be trimmed back a little bit, but the front of the body is pretty narrow which helps with this. I originally went with the Proline body and cut it to narrow it all up but then I saw this sitting in a pile of bodies at home. I like the fit of this one better.
I would also like to find a wheel with a little more offset which again will help with the tire hitting and hopefully make it a little more stable.

The body looks great on there. I have a few Chevy bodies I am going to try once mine gets here.
