Default What gearing are you running

I'm running the Crawler-Master 540 13t and a Tekin FXR on 3s. I've been playing with 19/80 and a lot of stuff below, 19/80 halls ass but not much drag brake I'm down to a 14/87 and drag is a lot better and it will almost hold but the top end sucks. Whats working for most.

I have that motor sitting on the workbench right now. I am super busy, but I can give you a report next week hopefully. I will be using the BR-XL so maybe the Holmes Hold will help. I am thinking of throwing a 21 or even a little higher in there. I want it to fly, on both two and 3s (or 4? )

I've ran it on the 20/80 on 2s and 3s, I run a 2s 5600 60c for run time and I only have a 3s 2200 that I take out of my scaler so I might have to get a bigger 3s. cant beat 3s power but I think 4 would be crazy fast.

18/80 with the crawlmaster 13t using the stock esc...3s and 4s

Hold brake,not so much

Drag brake, just to my liking, slow roll on down hills

Speed is alright motor temps are perfect, ran it for a solid 32 min today in the King of the skook event,Some crawling some sprinting,etc...never got hot just warm on 3s

Seems to be a good comprimise of speed and crawl control

Same motor but a BR XL and 19t pinion on 3S 3250. "0" timing

Speed is good, quickest scaler I got.

Drag is decent but that Holmes hold is fantastic! Could use a 17t pinion to get a bit more creep for crawling but don't want to sacrifice the speed. Maybe 4S and 17 pinion would be the ticket for the best of both worlds.

Only running 80% brake and it will still endoe when you go from full throttle to neutral on a grippy surface. BRAKES!!

yep ,forgot about 0* timing...

So, I am going to sound really stupid and feel even worse since I am a holmes driver...

Can the hold function be set independently of the drag function ?

Sorry JRH, I keep getting/winning the esc's and then giving them to others to use. I have had at least 5 of them now and have yet to use one. I do have one left, so ....I guess I better get busy ....

I'm going to be running 32p gears I found that the 48p would not hold up to a high power motor like the VXL 3500. So when my HH 13t motor shows up I will be running 18 54 for speed and 13 54 for crawling.

I am running 17/80 for spur and pinion and LOVE IT! i am running a 20t tourqe master pro motor on 2s and 3s with a HH BR-XL esc.

It has enough drag to hold in one spot on the steepest places I can take it, and flip its self over when I left off while running full throttle. as well it has enough power to rip wheelies and tear drive shafts! and it has just as much if not more wheel speed than stock on 2s. and still has pleanty of crawlablity!

IMO 17/80 gearing with a HH 20t tourqe master on 3s is the best all around combo for speed, power, crawling, and fun!

You can still adjust the drag brake so its not full Holmes Hold or nothing, not sure that answers your question though.

Maybe this will help?

Is this in the stock esc or in a esc you get from john?

BR XL from Holmes, I was answering Hotwheels000 question, or at least trying to.

That is actually from my Bronco, it was easier to get at then the Wraith's to plug in and show the link page.

The Wraith has the drag set at 80% because it's way lighter then my Bronco

I also added a bit of a throttle curve to the Wraith's BR XL to help with the creep due to the 13T motor, it allows you to feather the trigger a bit more. The first 3/8's of trigger pull just creeps but comes on strong after that. It's not so touchy now.

So far with the gearing I'm running I have to gear real low to get it to hold on a grade, I'm back to 19/80 and I like the speed but it don't hold. Funny thing is my JK scaler will hold and it weighs 2 1/2 time's what the wraith weighs, but its also on 1.9s. The larger the tires and the higher the ratio is it wont hold because of the leverage factor.
