Default noob question about servo savers

So, as you might have guessed, I've been away from the hobby for years. I have a Wraith RTR that I want to upgrade the steering links on. It seems that the stock linkage is bendy enough to protect the servo, but what about the metal upgrades? Do I need to use a servo saver? Or am I showing my age and nobody uses those anymore?

Most of us on here upgraded our servo. I used this one with my E-MAXX TowerHobbies.com | 124 Kimbrough Servo Saver Gas Car/Truck If you wanna stick with the RTR servo you could use this if yer worried.

so, with an upgraded servo, the saver isn't necessary? I like the look without them, but don't really like breaking stuff (yet)

As long as you're not running into solid objects at full throttle all of the time or trying to move huge rocks, you should be fine without one.

I would upgrade to a stronger servo and install a bec as soon as budget allows.

The stock flexy linkage is there to protect the frail stock servo. Solid metal links will kill the servo in short time unless a saver is used. The Kimbrough black HD one is pretty good.

Aftermarket servos that have stronger gears can tolerate no saver, most of the time. I've stripped two hitec 7954's so far in my Wraith.
