Default ST Racing Concepts aluminum steering upgrade help?

Hi everyone,

I just bought a STRC aluminum steering kit for my wraith, but i cant seem to make it work? My links seem to be to short! With the arm installed that goes from one knuckle to another its causeing extreme toe in!
And with the other link from the servo to the knuckle its also to short, causing my servo arm to be far from centered when the wheel are pointing stright ahead(with this nasty toe in) It seems like my links are both to short!
Am I missing something? Is there anyone on here that has installed this kit and can tell me whats going on? Im very frustrated!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks
Tyler

I think these are designed to be used with the supplied steering rod ends to make it look like the original.

Have you tried putting the long arm(drag link) on top of the akerman plates? I have seen that be the case before, whenI bought the ckrc kit, because the plates are facing downward, it takes longer rods on bottom then on top. For the servo link, you may need to flip the servo over or run the link to the opposite side. I would not buy other stuff to make it work.

Also if you have the rtr wraith instead of buying the xr10 steering link kit you can buy the aluminum lower links from the salvage yard at rpp.Theres enough parts for the lower links and for the steering linkage. Its only a few dollars more than the xr10 link kit alone.

Use the long Axial links (#5) on the parts tree AX80057. Mount the long link under the steering block's Ackerman plates. Mount the shorter link on top of the right Ackerman plate. That should get rid of the toe out.

Also, take off your servo. flip it over so that the spines are on the passanger side of truck. run the drag link to the drver side. That will make the drag link with the axial rod ends werk and look way better.

Same experience here, I dont plan on buying another STRC part for this crawler, poor fitment, zero directions or suggested parts for certain steering upgrades, no need for the bent drag link, too many bends in the tie rod and on different planes.... It's just a shit offering that has zero research or development behind it.

I hacked mine up and ended up shortening it and some Traxxas Jato 4mm shank rod ends with 3mm ball ends to make it work. I'm buying some 6061 bar and hex stock to make all of my own upgraded links from now on. The aftermarket for them is too expensive or slapped together and ends up taking more time to fix than to make from scratch for me.

Unhappy Re: ST Racing Concepts aluminum steering upgrade help?

I'd like to know the dimension for the rod end needed to complete , is it 22mm or 25? I found these on RC4Wd sind AX80057 is BO everywhere!

i just mixed and matched until i found what worked best. i have a tad bit of toe out, which is fine since mines a high speed rig. i think i used a medium axial rod end and chopped down a custom one i had to fix the tie rod, and the drag link used a medium one i believe.

Problem solve. With 21mm rod end and 2mm traxxas shim, it's perfect!
Thanks!
