Default Tekin redline motor with MMP

I'm kinda stuck in between a 10.5 and a 13.5 motor. I've been using the velinion motor on a 3s and happen to like the speed and power but I'm trying to eliminate the low speed cogging. Does anyone have any input before I place my order?

Thnxx

Your traxxas motor was a 3500 KV motor (3500 RPM per Volt )... Now I don't know the KV rating of the Redline motors, but I do know you can find out, maybe on their website. If you were happy with your 3500 KV for to speed, try to match it with one of Tekin's motors. Keep in mind the Tekin motors are probably more powerful, I think they are 4 pole and Traxxas is only 2 pole, so you can (in theory) gear the Tekin Higher for even more speed.
I'm sure some fellas with more experience could shed more light on this.

So the 13.5 @3500 kv will be similar to the velinion? I think the velinion is a 10 turn.
Also how is the low speed on this motor, does it still cog out?

13.5 is my recommendation too. Nice and peppy.

The two pole is very smooth on the low end, they just bounce around a bit under heavy load. Seems typical for two pole motors, I call it the two pole shimmy.

I run the 10.5 and love it. If you want 13.5 speed just adjust the MMP down a bit. BUT you have the option of a bit more punch if you want. If you are coming from a velineon system I think the 13.5 probably won't excite you much.

Thanks for the info.
But will a 10.5 cog at low speed more than a 13.5?

Thanks Holmes! Will there be any cogging at all??

I also would like to know if it will fit in the trans with room to run a smaller pinion. With the velinion motor and longer motor screw slots the smallest that I could run is a 20t ans its still not fully meshed.

I am running a 13.5t redline and MMP......... GREAT combo! with awesome tune-ability if you have a castle link.

I wouldnt want any faster of a motor, you'd run into heat issues, never be able to keep it on 4 wheels, and loose a lot of crawlablity.

I like the punch of the Velinion motor but don't like the low speed cogging.Plus I think I could adjust the 10.5 to be like the 13.5 but cant do vise versa.

Sooo. Will the 10.5 cog at low speeds more than the 13.5? If not I think I've already made my decision.

What will changing out the rotor do?
Also, will there be any low speed cogging with the Tekin Redline 10.5 motor?

I have zero cogging with my 10.5. I can crawl at a snales pace all over my yard with ease. Zero heat issues as well. I don't think you can go wrong with either motor to be honest so get the one you want.

Changing the rotor will slow it up some and give it more torque, also increases the natural drag break. I have a novak 13.5t with 13mm rotor and ceramic bearings, i did the build a ballistic motor. Perfect for me!

I have the Tekin Redline 13.5 and MMP and love the combo. Wouldn't want it any faster for this rig or I'd spend too much time up side down. Run mostly 3S but 4S is fun too.
