Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Started a 2nd Wraith build this past weekend. I swapped out my sons stock Wraith cage for the Carter Fab cage I was running for a while and now I am going to take a stab at chopping up a Wraith cage to re-style it and cut the over all size down. This build I am going for more a strict crawler direction now that I have project "ExWraith'O" getting a brushless power plant, that will be my fast rig. So on with a couple pics of what I am doing to the cage: Stock cage - http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMG_0282.jpg Going to lower the height of the cage alittle to give it a better look - http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...2/IMG_0286.jpg I didn't get much for pics while chopping it up as I didn't have a certain direction as I went, I just crossed my figures I was not going to waste a cage :lmao:. I'll take a couple pics later today to post how it looks currently. Thanks for following Nick |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Updated cage pics: http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/.../_IMG_2888.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/.../_IMG_2890.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/.../_IMG_2903.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/.../_IMG_2906.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/.../_IMG_2909.jpg I am going to mount a EXO rear tail light set up and see how I can finish off the way I bring the tail section together. I am planing on chopping the front down also so it will balance out alittle better on how the cage looks. |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith So far so good!!! Keep us posted... cheers, Todd |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Looking dope!!! |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Nice, very creative |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith OK...I might be missing something. But where are you going to mount the rear shocks? Or did you get a little to happy with The trimming of the fat??LOL |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith No Fear! good work. "thumbsup" |
So this is where the DIY kits are being used. Can't wait to see what you do now. |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Yeap, those are the bars you made for me"thumbsup" I have ExWraith'O cage off so I figured I toss the Chopped Crawler cage on the drivetrain to take a look at how it's looking. Here is a update on this build: http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...fca5b26beb.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...a273153184.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...b345767a97.jpg I am planning on running a light bar but for now I put a light cage on it to look at my lines, also ran a EXO rear light box. I am thinkig it will need flat door panels because the V panels kinda look out of place. Maybe this CarterFab member guy can whip me up something sweet looking for panels 8). I will be out of town on bussiness till the beginning of the month so there will not be much on this because I don't want to rush it and wish I had done something different. Thanks for checking out the build, I am open to idea and or suggestions. Nick |

Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Why trim the Fat??? I luv Fat Girls! |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith LOL, trim the fat as in the Wraith cage was alittle "Fat" big for my taste or look I wanted to see. I got some time over the weekend to do alittle more work to the rear. I will get a update pic up tomorrow. |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Update pics, http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...b2fcfdf048.jpg http://i1134.photobucket.com/albums/...f2b59d60ab.jpg I finished up the rear of the cage and put all the running gear this rig will be running. I will post a full break down of everything once I have the upgrade list finished. I am about to start putting together a set of Gmade XD piggybacks 103mm, question for others running those shocks, what have you found to be a good starting point on shock weight. I think I may start with a 30-40wt. I will be running some light tenders and mid mains. Using the ProLine dual rate spring set up. |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith I have been looking into winch's and bumpers and I looking at the BGR Fabrications T2 Front Bumper http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/attac...2-dscn3106.jpg What about the winch? Suggestions on what I should think about, I am really green in the winch area:lmao: |
For a winch, either spend the money and get a Quicksand or CLAW winch or get the always trusty servo winch that is easily hidden. You can get both the CLAW and servo winch from Locked Up RC. I have both. Only been runnin the CLAW so far in Southern Comfort and love it. Especially the free spool feature. |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Thanks for the info Clay, I will check that out over the weekend"thumbsup" BGR Fabrications T2 Front Bumper ORDERED! Thanks Bill! |
Re: Project "Chopped Crawler" Cutting the FAT off a Wraith Clay or anyone else, I am also looking at another set of wheels, thinking of the new VP wheels or open to something with that off road scale look like a Walker Evens look, any suggestions? I am waiting for a set of PitBull2's so I want to be ready when they show up. |
