Why not.... for sale section build

Hey everyone, decided to give the wraith another go.. it just wasn't my thing with the first one. Now I'm a little more planted and have all other classes built. So time for a project..

I got lucky an picked this up off the for sale section..

Never ran!

VP links
VP steering rods
VP vvd's
Aluminum chubs an knuckles
Hitec 7955
Junfac shafts
Motoworkz wheels
Pitbull rock beasts II's
Old style CI dual foams
Hinged hood
Battery an electronics forward

Getting some inspiration from dez at a "local" comp past Sunday with his wraith J, using a bushwhacker body, I wanted to find a body donor.. well I happen to have this sitting around an haven't seen one yet.. ( which came from the for sale section, last year, as well)

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...1CCB4-orig.jpg

I decided to get my favorite tool out, dremel, an start cutting..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...31667-orig.jpg

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...22EB3-orig.jpg

Getting closer..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...A8378-orig.jpg

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...8E49A-orig.jpg

Well that was it for 2a.m. cutting.. the whole body is a inch or so long, so I have to figure out how I'll cut the rest to fit.. more coming..

Pic of the front clip reminds me of a karnivore krawler, you may have convinced me to go a different direction for my new build

Looks like you're off to a great start! What did you pay for that bad boy?

winnerone23 04-19-2013 05:07 AM

The cost of upgrades.....

I'm at a stand still between what I want an what i feel my abilities.. or maybe a step back is all it will take.. any who..

This what I'm goin for..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...BDAAA-orig.jpg

This is what I'm getting..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...8B09C-orig.jpg

And this is the diff..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...93556-orig.jpg

From what I know, the middle needs cut an back together.. I thought bout area between the doors an matching the top an bottom of the X's up.. but no screws to hold it together.. not a body guy, its not CF....
Thought bout cutting it to match at both ends an securing it where the screws are.( in front of door an behind rear door area)
Etc etc etc.. I have Ideas.. no body experience to back it up.. looking for some suggestions an help..

Edit: the issue I'm having is.. I would like to keep the rear door jam at the rear brace.. the front matching up to the hood area...

Yeah my basement sucks, outside of my work bench. That had a 2.2s an 2.2p on it tho..

I think I figured out my cut.. the back door is goin to be 3rd door sized.. like a ext cab Tacoma. Take a inch out of the middle of the X on the door an match what's left?

TheScaleAddict 04-19-2013 10:22 PM

Take out the inch, then 'shave' the rear door off. :) Chicks dig 2 door bummers. ;)

winnerone23 04-20-2013 12:14 AM

The doors will be last thing done.. until everything else is on place.. so I started with the rear fitment. I cut the bed in half to start getting things lined up..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...37139-orig.jpg

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...8E111-orig.jpg

I'll get everything in place an worked over before I rebuild the body to one piece..

I also got rid of the rear portion of the "roll cage" I didn't want to cut the roof, so I bent it down behind the cab. I like it...

Next is a few choices for support/bracing/looks... a little help/opinions?

1.

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...D5275-orig.jpg

2.

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...48F25-orig.jpg

3.

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...977ED-orig.jpg

I also got electronics around..
Fxr that's getting a 4s cap, cc bec, airtronics rx, HH 17t crawlmaster, an a 7955... all for now, its what I have.. ( all thanks to the members of rcc, from the for sale section).

winnerone23 04-21-2013 02:29 PM

Few more changes, in prep for my ride height.. flipped the link an shock mounts f/r..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...3F00F-orig.jpg

Swapped out the shocks for another set of full aluminum wraith shocks..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...9471F-orig.jpg

Its now semi droop and a 3" ride height..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...2ECE0-orig.jpg

Then I decide it was time to do electronics.. at 230 a.m... I just pulled it apart..

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...77696-orig.jpg

So now ur all caught up. Now its time to get to work

But..... all done an fits just right!

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...53CF1-orig.jpg

Thanks.. oh she's goin to get used! Cage is goin back on shortly an out for a Madden voyage! She is rolling on her own power an from what little bit, in the basement, I ran it.. its goin to smoke a trail run! That was only on 2s too.. 4s is goin to be insane!

winnerone23 04-22-2013 07:03 PM

Ok, initial shake down is done..

The rig performs real good, way better then the rtr one I had.. I prolly wouldn't of got rid of it if it was half this good!

Any who.. tie rod an horn kept needing tightened, which isn't any big deal.. longer screws with nuts are goin on.. the rear falenfest locker kept coming loose an 3wd is no fun! So its sitting in loctite right now.

The 17t HH is pretty sick! 87/16 gearing.. plenty of torque good top end on 3s.. 4s, WOW! NOT For crawling! Tho a blip of the throttle rockets over a obstacle... Trail runs, g6, an the poker/dash run this weekend is goin to be bad a$$!

The rocker II'S grip, bite, crawl, an rally race extremely well.
I'm excited to get panels done an run this more tomm.

I'll get some pics up as well

winnerone23 04-23-2013 08:26 AM

Not much, but worked the rear braces with what I had on hand, that fit without modding.

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...1B52A-orig.jpg

I'm kinda glad I didn't cut the roof off.. I like it.

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...38841-orig.jpg

A little paint I got at rauch comp last year, figure it was a good time to use it. Get rid of that ugly stock look.. till I get the Hummer panels finished up.

Lol, I thought bout that.. I'm thinking of cutting out a opening in it, like a window in a sloped down bikini top on a old scrambler.. thanks

winnerone23 04-24-2013 04:58 AM

A little nicer than the stock look. Bout ready for its beating this weekend...

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...D1552-orig.jpg

Not digging the hole in the hood so I'm goin to slap some quick stick on cf stuff on it for the time being.. ( it doesn't feel right, lol.. stick on cf, wtf)...

http://i1147.photobucket.com/albums/...1F03B-orig.jpg

The rear "tailgate" is goin to be real CF. Since the rear brace made the rear wider, I'll screw the panels to the CF.. I may also pull the roof an hit it with black.. maybe the stick on cf..?
