RRP failed me!

I was doin some light bashing with my wraith. I have a tekin sc4x 7.5t in it(love this motor!), anyways i was jumping a little ramp and next thing i knew i didnt have front wheel drive. I picked my wraith up and saw my mip driveshaft hanging and my upper driveshaft spline gone. I looked arounf the parking lot and found it with the pin still in it. This is what i found...

I've see this happen before. The main reason I still run the stock drive shafts. I rather them break than my RRP one piece bottom gear.

Yeah I have heard the same story!! I hope mine lasts a little longer. I am using only 2S with a Tekin RS and Redline 13.5T motor.

I'm running a Pro4 3300kv. I haven't had mine break yet. I would try to contact RRP and see if they might help you out.

Sent from the foot hills of Tennessee.

Got a buddy that has twisted and bent 2 of these. One of them just driving in the yard. I don't think RRP will be wanting to replace it but keep on them and they should. I know they didn't want to replace his.

You're pushing the envelope ....expect things to break

rcmedic 06-02-2013 06:51 PM

Just broke the rear. Thats a 2 pole brushless motor doing that! I was driving around in my loving room not even going fast. Just putting around and the rear shaft fell out.

I piece bottom gears, meh.

Get a good quality steel gear and use a better output like SuperShafty or stay with a stock output.

Carpet crawling is not good for your drivetrain. There is t much 'give' on your traction.

Re: RRP failed me!

SuperShafty or the outputs from Crawler Innovation.

I have the outputs from Crawler Innovations put up against a 6900kv Castle 4 pole motor and a Mamba Max Pro and MIP driveshafts. My Wraith probably weighs about 8bs with a 5000mah 40C 2S lipo in it. There's no telling how many times I've "bumped" a rock trail and doing a full throttle landing.

Why would you want to run Any output shaft with a hole in it? I know it was made that way, but anytime you put a 2.8mm hole in a 5mm shaft your asking for trouble. Just get the Scx10 Rpp outdrive without the hole, locktite a 3mm setscrew in there and never worry about it again. Just my $0.02........

It makes sense, but the way I'm thinking about it, when you just have a set screw torqued down and locktited on, you still have the possibility of it becoming worn on the bottom side of the set screw (just from wear). Whereas, a screw pin, you have a bigger contact point and the set screw is spreading out the load caused by the torque.

It might sound like I've had wayyyyy too many tonight (I have had a few):oops:

We used to snap those like crazy too.

Beefy = better

I like a through hole design, no chance of driveshafts spinning or popping.

I got it back sometime ago. But it looked like to me, and alex chen that they had welded the ended back, re lathed it, and drilled back
