Beef tube help?
 

I bought a set of beef tubes for the front and rear of my wraith. I read somewhere that they worked for the front and rear. Front went smooth for me. When trying to do the rear I put the tubes into the axle housing. Then when trying to install the rear axles into the housing with the beef tube already inserted into the housing the axle shafts will not fit into the tubes. The Flange part at the end of both sides of the axles seem slightly to large to fit into the beef tube in the housing.Can anyone give me some pointers on how you installed yours? Am I correct that beef tubes are compatible with the rear of the wraith?

You have to pull the axles and use a dremel to trim down the flanges that keep the beef tubes from going in. I have them on both ends of my Wraith, even though it is 4WS!

I didn't read anything about that in any of the beef tube thread or anywhere else. Kind of dissapinting because I thought they were a direct fit. If I choose to attempt this could I trim the flange down to much or can I pretty much remove the whole thing? What dremmel attachment would you suggest?

Is this what all others have had to do to get their beef tubes to work in the rear?

Yep you have to trim the flange. I had to do the same thing. Just chucked the axles up in my cordless drill and used a file on the flange till they slid in the tubes. Just go slow till they fit.

x2 on setting them in the chuck on a drill then running them on a file, files them down evenly. If you read far enough on the beef tube thread it does mention having to do it. Read through the whole thing, and the long side will seem to have some in and out slop after doing this but the thread says that is normal.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. I guess I'll try a 60 grit dremmel attachment to make it work. I still think this should be added to the beef tube website so people know this before purchase.

So when sanding only remove enough of the flange to fit it into the beef tube? Not the whole flange?

I took off enough til it just fit, don't think it will hurt if you go a little too far though.

So regular 60 grit sand paper will take enough off?

I'll use a drill chuck for the shafts so it does it evenly.

Normal issue with beef tubes. Drill + sandpaper is the recommended method from what i've read. I have a set of beef tubes as well, just to find some time to get them installed.
