| bullit proof tranny question with pics...
I am building Harley's bullet proof wraith trans and have dot all the parts VP cases, Super Shafty outputs and drive gear shaft and Robinson racing slipper. My question is the Super Shafty pin that holds the slipper in place is larger than stock and will not fit the Robinson Racing slipper. Do I file the slot to fit the larger stronger Super Shafty pin or use a stock pin as the instructions for the slipper say. A stock pin would be sloppy in the hole in the Super Shafty drive gear shaft. Thanks for the help and advice.

I'd file the pin, but that was my solution.....it will take a few mins if your using a hand file

Whats happened there is you've got the RR Wraith slipper, I can tell by the fine 48P tooth profile, 80T I think it is, & that only has the required slot for the Axial stock pin. The SuperShafty top shaft is designed around using the RR 2wd Slash Slipper, it's 32P & 56T, which is obviously set up for the bigger, longer Traxxas pin. Short of changing out to the 32P slipper, simple solution is shorten the pin |

I would shorten the pin but it is also too big around. AWWWW shit, going back I see I bought the wrong RR slipper.

Got access to a Dremel with accessories? Cut the shaft to length, then if you've got the right bit use a small carbine tip to widen the shaft slot on the slipper without taking off the end stops for the shaft to slip out of. Very time consuming work and requires a steady hand, but would get you out of a bind less you decide to order the other slipper and a 32p pinion.

The 54T, mod .8 RRP slipper also works...thats what I have in my wraith, but it requires grinding the backside of slipper plate flat to use the two supplied 5x10x4 bearings that come with the SS top shaft, or sourcing a 5x10x5 bearing if altering a part like a slipper isn't your thing.
