Question 2 different wraiths, need little bump to move?

Yesterday was out crawling with my son,and my Wraith would run fine except when I stopped. When I tried to start again I would have to give it a little bump to start moving. Thought my motor might be giving up the ghost. But then my sons started doing the same thing!
In mine I have the AE2 with a HH Torquemaster Pro 540 35t. My son has the HH BRXL along with the Torq Expert. Both on 3s.
My motor smells a little burnt but his doesn't? Reckon it's coincidence they both are failing at same time?

Law of averages tell me the chance of it being a coincidence are slim. I haven't experienced that issue so can't comment much on it.

I would disconnect drive from the motor and test your axles to make sure they are spinning freely.

Then you will be left with gearbox or motor issue.

I'm thinking maybe slipper issue, anyone else ?

Is your gear mesh between the main spur and motor pinion to tight?

Check the brushes on both motors, on 3S they won't last long and the bump-start is usually a sign of worn or stuck brushes. If they don't move easily in the brush hood it can cause the same problem. Check for grit/dirt, a bent brush hood or anything that might prevent them from moving.

Yeah, if it needs a bump to start that usually means the brushes are bad or the comm needs some time on a lathe if you have a rebuildable motor.

Been busywith work . Took the motor out of my Wraith and the brushes were wore, about half. Had some used brushes out of another motor that still ran good. Turned the comm and installed the used ones to try out, the comm was in bad shape before I turned it. Still needs a bump every now and again, but there was an increase in throttle response. Will install new brushes and update.
Should I order the silver brushes from Holmes or just standard? The silver are 12.00 vs 7.00, are they really any better?
