Default Found: Cheap, High quality alloy shocks for Wraith.

Ok, so I bought myself a cheap second hand buggy today. It was a Turnigy Trackstar Desert Racing Buggy 2WD, That's not important though... What is, is the shocks it had installed.

Alloy replacement shocks for the rear. Part found here:

Upgrade Rear metal shock absorber - A2030 and A2031

$10-12USD gets you a pair of alloy shocks, very high quality. Change the springs and oil and these may just be the cheapest alloy replacement around. Don't take my word for it, check out the pics.

The rears are 100mm DO NOT BUY THE FRONTS. You want two sets of rears, unsure of springs the offer but they may do some ultra sorts for us crawlers, I'm more interested in the bodies, as I use my own springs and oil.

I'm not one to hype something that isn't worth it, if you have a low budget or even looking for a cheaper than stock plastic replacement, do not overlook these guys. The build quality in hand is top notch. YOU MUST CHANGE OIL AND SPRINGS IF USING THESE ON OUR RIGS.

Enjoy ;)

Oh forgot to mention these come standard with metal rod end balls, as pictured.

These are 100mm, if I remember right wraith is 103mm.

Look pretty nice, shafts are not ti-n coated? Spring diameter looks same as Axial?
EDIT: HK might sell more if they included specs with eye to eye length LOL>

Unsure of what shafts are made of was told, they may need a light sand when they arrive but mine seem very well made and robust, would be surprised if they were coated. It appears the top of the shock is solid and changing of the Spring must be done by undoing the threaded rod ed. Spring OD is near identical, either way axial springs fit, as shown in pics below ;)

....
Changing the spring would only take removing the bottom retainer.
If the flange that hold the bottom side of the spring is the standard one:

Pull up the spring 1/2"
Push up the retainer, off the rod end.
Slide the retainer sideways off the shaft via the gap in the retainer.
Release the spring and it'll jump right in you lap.

Mounting springs (of your choice) follow the same steps backwards (Spring won't jump over the shock by it self ;) )

looks like a solid shock BTW. HobbyKing hasn't disappointed me yet. For their prices I'm willing to accept (a little) less then bulletproof quality. But failures are dealt with very accurate and promptly. (twice, out of 100+ ordered items.)

Those are pretty slick and you can't beat them for $12. A little big for my MRC though I think.

I changed out different rod ends and got stock Wraith shocks to 100mm to use on my SCX10's and the springs come off like a Wraith does also
