Default Tire Foams For Mud Slingers

I wanted a tire that would grip a little better than the Axial ripsaw tires,so i bought a set of RC4WD mud slinger 2 XL 2.2" scale tires. Anyway the foams in the mudslingers are way softer than I could imagine and that's fine if they're kept off of rocks and pretty much climbing up a hill. I understand that I chose the wrong tires for rock crawling, but I like the way they look on a Wraith and with better foams I think they will be an all around good tire for what I do with my Wraith. I have searched on here, but seems no one is running the same tires, and I didn't come across anything by doing a "Google" search. I have researched CI foams and looked at the guide on here and on the CI website,so I understand the according to the weight of my Wraith will determine which size foams I need. The foams that came with my tires are 5.0's,but I'm not sure if it would be better with 5.5 or 6.0 foams. I've done my research, but I may have missed something so if anyone has ran a similar tire,I would like to know which foams worked out best. Thanks!!

I would go with the 5.5 Double Deuce's. Soft outer for the front and med outer for the rear

I'm not the expert, but Eddie at CI is.

Is it possible that the CI soft foams may be as soft as what comes with some tires? I ask because the mud slingers sidewalls really wrinkle and fold under without being vented? I'm not questioning your advice Stuck,I'm just curious. I shot CI an email and gave the details and goofed on the name of the tires and then not too long he responded asking about the tire and part number. So far I haven't heard back from them. I suppose they're really busy, but no worries. Thank you folks it has been helpful!

Default Tire Foams For Mud Slingers

The DD are a combination of a firm core and soft or med or firm outer. The combination prevents fold over.
That said closed cell resists water so you can vent the tire

Mike is correct here except that on Double Deuce foams only the inner foam is closed cell. the outer foam is not. IMO if you get them wet the outer should be taken out and dried.

Yes, CI also has tuning rings to fill the tire side to side

I appreciate all the info. on the tire foams. When I hear from Eddie from CI,I'll take what he recommends plus what I learned from you guys and order a set of Crawler Innovations foams. Again thanks!!
