| Tons of steering part 2 Got her done
Just a little twist to Dragrcr's idea as discussed on this thread >>> TONS of steering with stock parts! Here it is mocked up..It's all i have time for tonight but as you can see it looks pretty good i think. It doesnt show in these pics but i would get a ton more steering that my existing set up (similar to Dragrcr's) I'm definetly no expert and still a crawler newbie but i cant see why it wont work As to its durability..Maybe the experts have something to say about that I still have to cut off the drivers side arms and make a temporary steering and servo link but i got it all dry fitted for now. You could almost do a duo steering servo mod with this set up.One on each side of the axle Link to pictures >>> http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...1&d=1292912272 http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...2&d=1292912272 http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...3&d=1292912272 scroll down for the finished product Last edited by xv-townboy; 12-21-2010 at 04:45 AM. |

That is a possibility but it would stick out front a little too far for my liking..I'll use one of the curved rod ends i'm thinking. If there was more meat on the arms i would cut them a little closer to the knuckle and there would be less of an angle on the servo link...I have a couple of sacrificial plastic knuckles to experiment with so its all good Last edited by xv-townboy; 12-21-2010 at 12:49 AM. |

Ok it almost 4 in the morning but i got it finished.Obsessing.I will say that this mod made a substancial difference to my turning radius..I'm very pleased with the outcome.. I went with a bent rod end at the servo horn to make up for the somewhat extreme angle to the arms on the knuckle.I still have abit of tweaking to do on my steering link which will give me a little more turning radius yet As to durability..Well i think it should hold up fine for the bashing that i do around here..Either way its all good as the cost was pretty much nil.I just used the existing knuckles and have yet to do any cutting The drivers side arms will be cut off tmr unless i can figure out a way to add a second servo to that side of the axle.. Anyhow guys here are the pics.. http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...7&d=1292931784 http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...6&d=1292931713 http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...5&d=1292931713 http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...4&d=1292931713 http://www.rccanada.ca/rccforum/atta...9&d=1292932685 Last edited by xv-townboy; 12-21-2010 at 05:38 AM. |

I'll work great, but like I said, if you cut the arms off you will get a few more degrees out of it, either way you do it tho it will still be alot better than stock. Ackerman angle is better too. Almost 0
