Default What's wrong with the stock chassis?

Why does everybody change the chassis? Something different.. looks.. rollover ability, suspension geometry, CG.. why? I like mine just fine except it doesn't flip back over on its own worth a crap, but I don't have enough drive time to know better anyway.

edit: forgot to mention breakovers

I dunno it works pretty well within my own experience. Far as roll overs I never had an issue at all with my XR builds. The chassis is great its just people always want something different and can never leave well enough alone. There may be some limits to the chassis but I have yet to see any at this point.

i'm not expert on this subject but i think the stock chassis does work fine. i used my for quite awhile and was happy with it. only comp'd once with it but i thought it did well.

all this being said i switched over to a chaotic crawlers special bodiless chassis. the reason i changed is primarily because i like the look of a bodiless rig. people seem to do well with either. and i'm not about to start the bodiless vs. bodied battle!

Well I was holding off on fixing up my links until I get another chassis. But why? I think the battery on the front'll fix my CG issues, maybe do a little headscratching on making the top a little more rounded for easier flippage.

I've seen Mr SparkyJ drive the stock chassis a few times and the dude can wheel it..

Without turning into a big battle, hopefully, do any of the other chassis really give any vert wall improvements that can't be matched by dialing the stocker in?

i to liked mine but here was the down fall for me

the flat skid

we do lots of break over here where i crawl an it was always hanging me up . other than that it was great an i think it won the natts this year. an i think a body less truck is a lil easier to drive for me cause u can see every wheel an what the chasis is doing

thats my 2 cents

Been rockin the CF "stock" chassis and is great. For break overs you can adjust the shock arms to get some angle to the skid. Don't see me changing any time soon

i recently got a bjv4 and after switching from the stock chassi here are the main differences i noticed

1 doesn't get hung up on the body especially on the sides
2 you can see all the wheels easier as previously mentioned
3 the skid angle is better for trying to get over stuff as previously mentioned
4 i can't explain it, but i and my buddy who also recently got one, have pulled lines we couldn't quite pull before.
5. messing with the body is a pain in my opinion. and it looks cool
6. because drivers have benifitted from it by getting lines they couldn't pull previously
7. because its unique to the stocker and something to spend money on... lol

Every one finds what they like and run that. Run what you find that you like.

nationals was won by a driver who could win with any chassis. a chassis doesnt win a comp, the driver does. it is all about finding what is most comfortable for you to drive

The stock chassis works well.
It is heavy though and the weight is high.
The CF version is much better
Set it up with a 3" high skid and you are set for most anything.

Stock chassis works really well. Body has only really hindered me on a gate a few times. The only reason i want to go bodyless is so i stop haveing to order body clips.

Get a set of these and drill your front body mount hole sideways. You will not loose another clip.

BRP Locking Body Clip (4) [5290] - $1.79 : CKRC Crawlers, RC Rock Crawlers

I had some of those on my LCC pro, but they were a pain to get on and off.

I know the driver won nationals and not the chassi. However... If two guys are about equil in skill.. Whoever has an after market quality chassi will most likely do better because of the better skid angle ect.

No reason to be harsh. I was mostly right in what I said in my above post.

I think I'll edit my above post so I don't get anybody's panties in a wad

1st and 2nd at AWCC and Nats.

I don't get why people are so hung up on the stock chassis not having a tapered skid. It has adjustable shock mounts! You can give it a tapered skid if you want by adjusting the rear shock arms down. Personally i don't like a tapered skid and think it makes the truck drive funny. I have used a few different chassis's and feel the stock one works just as good if not better. The design of the skid more than makes up for any lack of gc. I run mine at 3.25 and have never had an issue of hanging up where other people don't.

No way

I don't care, stock or quality aftermarket, one is not better than the other. Two people of equal skill, the person that will win is the person that has the best setup for the course's/rock and has the least amount of bad luck.
