Default Build???

2 questions about putting together my kit.
First, my motor shafts are a bit to long. They contact the cover plate on the trans housing. Should I shim the motor or grind down the shaft. It's about 1/16th-1/8" too long.

Second, after building the shocks, I can barely compress them by hand. Is this normal? seems awfully stiff. Thanks.

Edit, I can compress the shocks about half way. After that they barely move. Thanks again.

I would think grinding the motors would be your best choice, but as for the shocks... You should be able to compress those pretty easily by hand, even with a spring on them. Sounds like something internal is binding not allowing them to compress as they should. Hope this helps and good luck!

you probably have too much oil in the shocks. you should only fill them with them fully compressed. the schock rod actually displaces quite a bit of volume. and fluid cannot compress.

+ 1. i have found that putting them together it is best to put in oil, compress, decompress while cap is open and then compress and put on shock cap. this way there is not pressure in the top from too much oil.

Thanks. That makes sense about the shaft taking up space. When I filled them, I had them fully extended, filled, move shaft up and down to release air, then extended and topped off. I will pour some out and fill with it compressed

I used to do that too. I think I saw a how to on youtube of someone doing it that way. Now I fill them compressed.
