I decided i wanted to get the xr. I have many questions tho on what to get for my setup. I do some trail stuff and i know this is not for trails, but i would like to know what is a decent motor for speed that wont handicap crawling. Also what tires is everybody using? I was thinking of the losi comp claws just cuz they are so cheap. any input? thanks for all the help and please excuse my ignorance. this is my first electric and crawler.

The XR10 is a great rig, good choice. Look at build threads, check out the stickie guides at the top, use the search option and you will find more information than you really want to know! Motors, Tires, and electronics are all personal preference and everyone will have a thousand opinions. I wouldn't get the comp claws. Pick up a set of either rovers, sedonas, or pin tires. As for electronics, depends on budget and driving preferences. Have fun searching! |

I have a little update. I have decided to get the hitec 7954sh which i think is good enough for me. I planned to run 35t motors and i heard some say i may need some rc4wd gears. Are they necessary? if so can someone link me to them?

| Rc4wd gears are a MUST if you plan on running anything more than a 55t and 2s. Pretty much one of the must have options man! Good luck!

Now the radio, I was considering just staying cheap and going with a flysky 3 ch. Which should work with a punk dig, right? I know everybody runs the 4pl and 4pk, but thats not for me. Any input is always welcome.

I run the dx3e with my punk setup. The third channel positioning is kinda annoying but it works for a budget.

alright so i have made some progress lol. i have decided to go with the 45t motor (doesnt need the rc4wd gears right?) since the 35t needs better gears. so with that said can anybody recommend a cheap quality motor/esc set up? i cant really seem to find a decent one. thanks for all the replies.

the hh brxl is a great choice for the esc. the integy motors will be fine for you, no need to go for the expensive handwounds.

Keep away from ALL Hitec G2 circ... 7955tg ect.... All have a inherent issue of jittering badly enough to eventually destroy the servo..... Well doc.... stuff.... I have 15+ right now and will sit there untill I can get the solder fix on the board.... I just want to warn potential victoms of this .... Hitec has been letting this go one for the past 2-years.... They try to blame it on LONG servo wires and low amp's in singnal line.... Hitec 5955 jitter test - YouTube! I believe some say that if you go with the 9mm bearings or purchase the HD gear plate it will negate the need?? |

| You definitely do not need a 4 channel radio but the best one to get is the Futaba 3PK. It is exactly the same as the 4PK in settings and function, only one less channel (even uses the same FASST system as the 4PK). It is an outstanding radio and will let you take advantage of the full potential of the XR10. It's also about $200 less than the 4PK. |
