XR10 Bushing mod? Just finished drilling out my motor plates for 9mm flanged bearings from AVID and installing the Traxxas bushings, but now when I screw the gearbox together the shafts bind. I think the Traxxas bushings are a little thicker than the stock bearings and it's causing the binding.. Anyone else have this problem and how did you solve it? |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? If it 's assembled properly, and still binding, i would just try putting another bushing in. I also advise to soak the bsuhings in some light oil overnihgt to help them soak them up as the oilite bushings tend to be a little porous. If it still seems tight, just run it as it will break in and should be pretty smooth after a pack or two. |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? mine were not tight and I had no binding at all with stock motor plates or VP motor plates, stock cases or HR machined cases. I still run traxxas bushings in mine. (they do show some wear on the outer edges so tolerances could be tight, if you are assembled correctly and 100% sure you are, like TheScorpionKing said just run it, it wont take long for it to free itself up) |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? Forgot to ask. Did you drill the motor plate by hand or with a drill press? cause yeah, my bushings never seemed tight, and i suspect your bearings are not sitting true in the plate. |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? Norco kid, I agree with what others have already said but I'd advise you to look carefully : in the traxxas bushing bag, I've noticed that some bushings are slightly beefier than others but nothing I think that could cause what you're describing... Just keep in those that fit good :p |

Re: XR10 Bushing mod? Just wondering if anyone could explain the bushing mod to me?I've allready got the VP plates. Wich bushings do i need? Thanks |

It gets rid of this pesky little 5x8mm bearings that are prone to failure. |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? Tamiya has them also, so if you ever built a beginner level Tamiya you have those bushing. |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? You going to post some pics up? |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? Yeah sure check it out! Nothing too crazy just a stock XR10 lol.. I did do the 9mm bearing/bushing mod as mentioned and put on an aluminum servo horn. Haven't gotten around to the body yet. The servo is a Power HD 1501MG. http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL89.../401770574.jpg http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL89.../401770572.jpg http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL89.../401770570.jpg |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? looks good, gotta start somewhere, how are the motors workin out for ya? |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? Theyre great! But I haven't really driven it much yet.. Just a bit through my yard last night and today it's raining :( |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? good to hear, they are good motors i liked em just decided to upgrade, nice savage in the background i'm rockin a full carbonfiber one that has a modded sh 7 port with a custom pipe, its stupid fast. Not meaning to thread jack but I dont get to show her off too much. http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...2/P4200051.jpg http://i705.photobucket.com/albums/w...2/P4200053.jpg |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? Lol nice! I'm just about done with mine.. I got it several years ago but now with the brushless/lipo stuff nitro is not worth the hassle for me. Plus it's hard to find a place to drive it without bothering people. |
Re: XR10 Bushing mod? yea I hear ya, mines crazy loud with the stainless pipe on it. I am building a carbon flux as we speak |
