Front sway bar feels weak

Just installed the front sway bar, and I'm surprised about how it is setup. Two super tiny 3x3mm screws need to hold it in place, mounted against the front diff housing. Take a look.

The screws can not be tightened in the holes. One squeeze by hand, and the bar pops loose. I'm hoping loctite will tighten it better, but it's not looking good.

Anyone else with experience?

If I was you I would purchase the hot racing front sway bar.

I think hot racing make an aluminum piece that hold it in. Or use a dremel and trim some plastic back so it sits towards the gears more.

The hot racing one looks better thought out for sure. Little hard to come by here, but definitely a good alternative. I'll try trimming first, and getting a screw all the way through to hold it in place. Thanks for the tips.

I wouldn't bother trimming it cause it will rip right out first tumble. We all know the Axial plastic sucks and is too soft. No way it's holding a away bar. Plus the loctite you used is eating and will soften the plastic even more.

I'll find a link tonight but short of the best option being the HR unit, someone shaved the bumper and put a small link to hold it in place. Small link being to rod ends together. Hope that makes sense.

I know someone local who trimmed it and got a bolt through and it held. But I think it was an aluminum bulkhead.

But that just gave me an idea CMB. You could make some 'shackles' (used on leaf springs) out of aluminum and bolt it to the 2 bolts holding the bumper. That would help hold the sway bar so the plastic wouldn't fail after trimming the plastic back and getting a bolt through.

Re: Front sway bar feels weak

I ran the HR sway bar and it worked well when it would stay in place. The way it mounts to the plastic housing (to those ears yours is mounted to) allows it to pop up and hinge upward (hard to explain) so it wasn't very effective. An aluminum bulkhead would solve this I imagine but not worth the cost to me yet

Yes! The stock sway bar is very poorly designed
It would not stay attached. I returned it and have ordered a front sway bar from Hot Racing. It will be here for Christmas.
I will post how that works out.

Ok, so HR it is. I'll have to wait till my next trip to the US, because the cheapest version I can find here is $98...

Dremel idea is out, don't want to risk the housing to crack. Maybe I can come up with an alternative to hold the bar in, at least until the HR arrives.

Excellent find, this is perfect. I'm going to fabricate something similar.
